Re: Bausch & Lomb StereoZoom ?

Congrats, I have the same model with a more elaborate stand, and like you say, much better performance than expected after a clean-up. It's a really nice scope and I'm enjoying mine no-end.

Have fun with it :D

Re: This Plan to Bring Back an Extinct Ice-Age Horse Species Is an Extreme Long Shot, Scientists Say

Why even look at horses when there are neanderthals we could bring back! I mean, they haven't been gone *that* much longer. Let's have a vote on it.

Re: Magnification Changer

Just to add to this, as I understand things, the head and any other attachments need to be taken into account as well. My heads are 1.25x and 1.6x magnification, some epi attachments are also around 1.5x. So that would be 40x objective times a 10x eyepiece times a 1.25x head times the mag changer nu...

Re: New Microscope

Judging by that last picture I suspect it originally housed a telan lens for use with the epi illuminator, much like the upper epi lamps for the Zeiss standard as the head is a very long distance from the objectives. I may be wrong but that strikes me as the most logical given it says 1.6x on the tu...

Re: Just can’t lay off the Bosch and Lombs

Gorgeous collection. I still use my brass B&L, admittedly I swap out the objectives and eyepiece when doing so, but they are fun to use and much easier to get really good oblique due to the swinging mirror. Added bonus... brighter image due to direct objective to eyepiece light transmission. I can't...

Re: B&L StereoZoom

Thanks, Michael. It's pretty exciting as I've never touched a stereo scope before and the 3d depth is very nice, it's certainly shown that my soldering leaves a lot to be desired. The only bad thing is that I now have 5 microscopes here and my wife is giving me that look that says 'any more and ther...

Re: B&L StereoZoom

Yay, new toy arrived this am... covered in ickyness but no fungus! :D I think it was used as a combination of solder and food station. Luckily it cleaned up ok and the stand repairs were relatively minor. The objectives were crusted over and the eyepiece lenses are a little scratched up and were fil...

Re: B&L StereoZoom

Good to know, thanks.
I had a look at other on ebay and guessed by the design and width of the eyelens that it was most likely a 10x, the 15 and 20's have smaller lenses.

Re: B&L StereoZoom

Thanks, all :D I don't have it in my hands yet, it'll be sometime next week as the seller is away from home. This one is 0.7 - 3.0x I have no idea what power the oculars are as I can't see any markings on the barrels from the posted photos. Does that make it a V.4? Looks like it was last calibrated ...

Re: B&L StereoZoom

Thanks, Michael. Yeah, the stand was actually the thing that piqued my interest. The scope will be a nice bonus if it works, but yes, that price was just crazy. If she had known what it was and listed it differently I doubt I'd have gotten it. I like to do random searches and sift through the result...

Re: 185 Objectives?

Objectives are a pain when mix n matching, B&L brass, very short, lomo 33, Jena 35, Beck and Wild.. 38? DIN 45. All 160 and all different. I had to mod my Zeiss to work with them all. Luckily the worst mismatch I made was a Leitz 170. Many Lomo's are 190.
