Re: Hi, noob from Alabama here...

Captain_Howdy1, I hope you are not from Tuscaloosa:-( I have an Amscope and have had it for four years. I think for the price for someone just starting it is a great intro scope. If you really get serious and as you continue to learn you you may find that it is less the scope Vs. the person behind i...

First off great images and thanks for the tutorial. I think I have seen some in their green state.
We had a lot of discussion and images of haemotococcus several years ago
Geko, who was active here until about two years ago use to post many nice images of red Heamatococcus.

Re: Calcite Crystals

I use Combine ZP and have for years. First with Macro and now with Micro. Have tried others but am most familiar with Combine ZP and haven't seen a reason to switch. Took me a while to learn it but worth the investment.

I also recommend a dedicated camera. Do you have a DSLR?

Welcome Desertrat.
Here, there are big communities nearby and light pollution is bad.
Quite a few of the members here were (are) also astronomers. I also gave up because of light pollution. Besides, we can do this at all hours of the day rain or shine.

Pat I am sure you will be really pleased with John B's slides. For your further consideration let me suggest a great book: A Color Atlas of Plant Structure e by Bryan Bowes. I bought a used one a few of years ago and it has really improved my knowledge of what I am observing. Plus, between it and Jo...
