Cystine Uroliths (bladder stones) in Canine Urine Sediment

These cystine uroliths were found in the urine sediment of a male dog presenting for chronic stranguria (straining to urinate) and pollakiuria (abnormally frequent urination). This image is a focus-stacked micrograph consisting of 7 exposures taken at 1,000x magnification. Merck Manual quote about c...

Re: new vedios!! Yeast or Parasite in my Stool???

Are they fungal ? there can't be so many pinworm eggs in my stool I do not think they are pinworm eggs. If you are not convinced, then I recommend measuring them. Size is frequently used to help identify parasite eggs. According to the CDC, "The eggs of Enterobius vermicularis measure 50-60 microme...

Re: help! bacteria or Parasite in my Stool

Based on these two fields, there are no parasites or parasite products that I can see. If you had pinworms, then you would have an itchy anus and would be able to identify eggs attached to your anus; less commonly are eggs in the stool. Here are some pics I took of equine pinworms. They are quite in...

Dipylidium canine (Flea Tapeworm)

Video of freshly passed canine feces with an active Dipylidium caninum (flea tapeworm) proglottid (10x magnification). These feces were passed by an apparently healthy, 13-year-old, neutered male, Australian Shepherd dog. This motile proglottid contains thousands of eggs that are infective only to f...

It would be very interesting to see some crops from the centre and corner of a full resolution single image of something boring, like a stage micrometer. Your stacked image is superb, but perhaps not ideal for [dare I say 'objectively' ?] assessing the performance. Yo Michael, I got those images yo...

Re: A couple botanical slides I got bought from John

IMHO, it would be better to set the condenser iris last, (reverse steps F and G) since the correct condenser aperture (whatever value you decide for it, I e.g. prefer towards the 60% not 90%) depends on the brightness of the illumination, which in turn depends on the centration of the image of the ...

Re: unknown microorganisms

The segmented structures appear to be some form of conidia. Because of their source and morphology (concurrent longitudinal and transverse septa), I'd guess that they are dictyospore conidia of an environmental fungus. Their morphology does not closely resemble any of the yeast forms commonly found ...

Thank you! Yes, I did let a vet see it and it was the vet who said that it is most likely lipoma. She only recommended monitoring. We did not do cytology. I understand this is a casual forum and not a formal place for medical advice. A lot of veterinarians are comfortable making this diagnosis with...
