Re: New Member from Seattle

Interesting story Bryan, it's always good to hear where a person comes from and a bit of their life story. You are certainly dedicated to stick with the old film and am sure you'll find the right scope to marry your camera to. I loved film in the day, the Pentax ME-super was my tool and I spent many...

Re: Mounting a camera to an Olympus CK incerted microscope

The dimensions sound about right. A C-mount is 25mm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_mount My Olympus IMT takes one on it. https://s33.postimg.cc/yanfiba6n/c03.jpg Amazingly complex system though, a photo-eyepiece goes into the scope first, then the MTV tube which has a lens too, then the camera adap...

Indeed not. There are valid reasons for doing it (see attached image + link from Wiki), but at the end of the day it is just a personal preference. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focus_stacking Ahhhh, I see one value of it now. No doubt there are many more too :D Very clever what computers can do, g...

Re: Buying a camera, opinionon SD card please.

I make it point to use Sandisk whenever I need to buy an SD card. They're outstanding, from my personal perspective; and as long as it's class 10... I'm buying from a premier camera shop and interestingly Sandisk is the Only brand card they sell. Also of note, they have the best price on the camera...

Buying a camera, opinionon SD card please.

I have been researching 4/3 cameras for a while and have arranged to buy an Olympus E-M5 Mark II. I have all the accessories to connect it to my IMT-2 inverted scope, so aside from a spare battery (which comes with it) the only thing I will need is an SD card. I don't want to waste money on a huge c...

No idea on the scopes but they look robust. I still regularly use my old Olympus stand with it's 50 year old objectives, perhaps my eyes don't notice the difference between it and my newer ones. :)

Very nice, I suspect you'll have a bumper crop of wee beasties before long. Sadly my last 'pond' was discovered by mozzies and I had a bumper crop of nasty blood sucking vampires. I tried remaking the pond via diy methods, unfortunately it turned out more biohazard than pond :( This post of yours b...

Very nice photography. Well arranged. I liked the DF best. I bought some of those cheap black half-moons and dicks to drop into my condenser filter holder but after an hour of experimentation walked away in disgust as I couldn't get a decent DF image. I'll get them out again and try some more with ...

Objectives, etc. being similar, could anyone advise on a decent binocular scope to purchase under $800? You missed the best brand, Olympus. I bought this Olympus IMT-2 inverted microscope for $950 here in Australia, they are even cheaper in the US BTW. Sure I had to add a few objectives, but it was...
