Re: more centric diatoms

That's an interesting chart - Curious as to why it indicates that the 43 44 07 prism from the 0,63 NA condenser works with both the Planapochromat 63/1,4 and the 100/1,25 There is an "*" with footnote that objectives > 1,0 n.A. only can be used with "limitations" Are the 43 44 05 and the 43 44 07 p...

Re: more centric diatoms

Hi Charles & 75, if I remember correctly, I tried with both condensors & I did not find a working combination. I even tried the Planneofluar slider 40/0,90 without success for the Planapo 40/1,0. You are very lucky with your Planapo 40/1,0.... it has a very large working distance, a big advantage co...

Re: more centric diatoms

Great Link, thank you. With my Zeiss Planapo 40/1.0 the Plan 40 slider did not work. Seems Zeiss made different variants of the objective.

Hello 75!
Well done, I like especially the last photo.
What slider works with the Planapo 40/1,0 oil objective? I never found a good combination for this obejctive.

Re: Marine Heliozoan ??

Hi 75, interesting video. Does Heliozoan typcially move? Or is this something special you have observed here? I am asking because I do not know much about the Heliozoans. Was there a lot of water thickness below the cover glas? Maybe some pumping caused by oil immerion when the water layer is too th...

Thank you for the feedback, it motivates to post more :-) Stunning! Some technical details would be most welcomed: What size is the diatom ? which optics was used for imaging? Thanks in advance. Size is about 200 um. Photo was taken with the Zeiss IM35 (vertical) microscope. It uses the old Zeiss fi...

Re: My Zeiss Microscopes

Thanks William. Regarding your Micro-aquarium though:High NA condensers are usually corrected for 1.0mm slide, while your cover at the condenser side seems to be 0.17mm. This is a very interesting information. Actually I am not sure if it there are really issues with the correction of the condensor?...

I was under the impression that you had used the 4th and latest of the DIC 160 systems in the video. Yes it is exacetly this latest DIC system that I have used in the video. The DIC manual documents the Zeiss tested and recommended Objective / Wollaston / DIC slider combinations. However sometimes ...

My Zeiss Microscopes

some experience that I like to share: I like to use the high N.A. objectives and as such I need to use the coverglasses with 0,17 mm. Basically I have substituted the usual carriers 76x26x1mm with larger cover glasses 24x60mm. OK, the cover glasses are a bit undersized and to short. So I depent on t...

Plan Neofluar 25x/0.8 W Oel Glyc .......? So it is as good as I imagined. Actually video was taken with my favorite objective, the Zeiss Planapo 25/0,65. This objective provides a quite nice image. It is also because of convenience, it is a dry obejctive but also provides an adequate working distan...

Thanks for the close up photo of the beam splitter - is there an ID (catalogue number ) on it? It has a number on it: "133682". But this is a serial number, so just a sequential counter that Zeiss have assigned in the past. Later they changed to a catalogue number what identifies better. If you wan...
