Re: My Zeiss Microscopes

A micro-flash is a great thing if you want to make sharp photos, since it "freezes" any movement. For the Zeiss Standard and inverse IM35 I have previously pesented such a flash device Zeiss Standard: http://www.microbehunter.com/microscopy-forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5930#p53445 Zeiss IM35: http://w...

You would need to sell it in bits and pieces to get the money you have asked for. Otherwise you would get only a fraction of the price you have asked for. My opinion that seems to match the previous comments.

It would seem weird for a German Citizen to be importing a Zeiss Scope back to the motherland from Pennsylvania, thanks for not bidding and letting me win it! You are welcomed gconcepcion :-) It really depends: I certainly have bought more than 30 times ZEISS stuff from US ebay. Quite a huge variet...

Re: bought used Zeiss on ebay - did I get a good deal?

The 16x/0.5 Planneofluar is a multi-Immersion objective - the one with the smallest magnification out of a range of such objectives. For convenience I also use the 16x/0.5 often without immersion and it actually still works well, a bit less "bright". Noted that without immersion the working distance...

Re: bought used Zeiss on ebay - did I get a good deal?

Hi, I personally also was observing this item - but did not buy since shipment to Germany would be quite high and on top there is 30% toll and tax. Please note that there is a very special Objective fitted: the Plan Neofluar 16/0.5 This is actually a fantastic objective worth itself maybe 300 USD. I...

Some of you may also be interested in the practical use of the test plate. You can instantly create your own specimen with epitel cells obtained from your mouth. Also you will find images to compare, e.g. https://www.microscopyu.com/gallery-images/buccal-epithelial-cells . Zeiss seems to provide specimens from "young mice" cross section cuts as PHACO specimen. See foto att...

I wonder how he extracted monochromatic light from the sunlight. I assume he preferred the violet wavelength, since his optics and photography was probably incompatible with UV. But, a true monochromator would provide a very low intensity - except perhaps when the sun stands at the Zenith on a summ...

Some ten years ago there was the Lidl Mikroskop Bresser, MEADE BIOLUX AL for about 60,- €. It was at least for its price not that bad. But obviously it is always possible to make something cheap and worse. Few weeks ago I also tried the "Lidlscope", a telescope sold by Lidl "Bresser 70/700 Skylux". ...

Re: Diatoms

Hi Photomicro,
looks good. What Objective (n.A.) have you used with your HMC? Your test diatoma is Gyrosigma and the structure just is partly resolved, so I would assume an objective with a n.A. of something like 0.40?

Looks great Radazz.
It also confirms that with a n.A of 0,65 (typical n.A. for a 40x Achro) it is possible to resolve the structure of Gyrosigma balticum.

Radazz, thanks for the comparison. Is the comparison what contrast methode makes the better resolution? Not sure if a stacked image is really the preference to compare in that case. Some thoughts and assumptions: Question on the numberic aperture of the Objective. The 20x objective maybe has a n.A o...

Hi Doug, the ebay link points to a condenser with serial number 46xxxx. Such numbers indicate use for the old Zeiss finite microscopes, the Zeiss "Standard" system. Maybe also it can be used on the earlier Zeiss Axioskope systems. But note that Zeiss changed the condenser carriers for the Axioskope ...

I just assume that Zeiss prefers to sell their low cost variant "PlasDic" instead of HMC. It is probabely because of license or patent cost :-)
