Re: On the matter of being a beginner !

Join the club. There is so much more fun in being a beginner, you can get away with almost anything and ask lots of what appears to some as being 'dumb' questions and find out the most amazing things. We have quite a number of courses here in Germany that my wife can attend as learning courses and g...

Re: Micscape online Magazine

I don't think Dave S was berating anyone for not visiting the website, just expressing an opinion that it would be sad to loose a site that he clearly thinks is good. After all said and done we all don't have the same interests even on this website. Some like to pull old microscopes apart and fix th...

Re: Video streaming with a strereo microscope

Just tried out OBS Studio. It's a little complicated to use initially and at first I was unable to get it to work at all. I think I did something wrong in the initial setup. After an uninstall and reinstall I followed this you tube beginners install video and following his instructions I managed to ...

Re: Amscope T720 vs. Swift SW380T

We have the Bresser equivalent of the T720 which I have found to be very good. The objectives make a difference in that the full field of view is in focus however they are a lot more expensive. We also have an interest in Pilz (Mushrooms, which is why I chose this particular microscope). If you are ...

The moon will probably end up looking like a piece of Swiss cheese as they burrow through it looking for water.

Re: My Latest Microscope

Still looking through our unidentified fossils. Last week we acquired a collection of fossils from our neighbor. He and his wife collected quite a number of fossils from the Normandy coast over a number of years. While searching through https://www.paleontica.org/ for the previous item I came across...

Re: My Latest Microscope

Just been trolling through our fossil collection of some of the smaller items (kept in a jar) and trying to identify various items. Success on one of them. I have wondered for a long time if this was a tooth of some kind of fish. Images taken from Optica SFX90 with mobile phone camera and trimmed wi...

They claim to be manufacturers !! but I am not totally convinced. I do have one of their scopes and I am very pleased with it (still). Here is the supplier that I bought my scope from when I was at a mineral show in Clausthal-Zellerfeld (where they are based):- https://www.winlab.de/schule/mikroskop...

Re: Advice on upgrading a stereo microscope

Optica Italy has a factory outlet with some pretty good sale prices on stereo microscopes. See Here:- http://www.optikamicroscopes.com/optikamicroscopes/product-category/factory_outlet/page/3/ This one SZN-2 was 1062 euro now 341 euro seems to be what you are looking for and is trinocular. http://ww...

You will need a 100x object lens to see the spores and get measurements which you will need for identification.

Sounds to me that you need two scopes, a stereo scope for the artifacts and a trinocular (so you can also take photos) microscope for the mushrooms.

Re: Objective FN versus Ocular FN - Compound Microscope

Hi John.
I guess it is more of a personal preference and on what one expects to see, as I find the 22mm images to have more detail especially on the un-enhanced images. Still an interesting question and experiment. (I looked at the full set on GP)
