Re: Home made (Very Basic) Microtome

Very innovative Alan, well done. As the workman said to the lady who asked "how do I get to Carnegie Hall", "you have to practice lady" he said :) From what I have seen, and as Bob suggests, using a Carrot to hold the sample does seem to be a popular method. Certainly got to be a lot easier than wax...

Re: Google Photos Link Test

I only use Flickr as an image store John, and for linking the occasional photo to some photography groups, where direct posting applies a degree of compression to images. I used to have a free Pro account, but lost that when Flickr broke away from a partnership with my employer. Not a problem though...

Re: Google Photos Link Test

Very informative John, thanks for taking the time to post it. I got there in there end by trial and error. The image is in a shared folder. Flickr is so much more intuitive, easier to use, but now I've sorted it, Google Photos will do for microscopy images, especially as they will be nowhere near th...

Re: Google Photos Link Test

Ok, sorted :) . Its quite a bit more involved than sharing from Flickr, as you have to go through three layers of the Google photos site to achieve it , but it now works, as you can see below. As I only want to use it for posting my future microscopy images to this forum, it will do the job, and its...

Re: Google Photos Link Test

Ok, next step. I uploaded the photo to Flickr, copied the bbCode, pasted it below, and 'Bingo' it works. But it doesn't work for me, when linked to Google Photos. I am at a loss to know why??? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48560282732_f9bc5dbe89_h.jpg Humble Fly by Dave , on Flickr

Re: Google Photos Link Test

Hmmm?, I'm confused, as I tried that in option 2.

I'll have another play later.

I do have a Flickr account, but I like to keep this for my photography, and if I want to link an image to a forum, I use the bbCode.

So, for my future microscope images, I opened a Google Photo account.

Re: Google Photos Link Test

Hmm??

Doesn't work when the shared link is enclosed within the [img] markers.

But is does work if posted as below, that is as a link not enclosed between the [img] markers, but you have to go 'off site' to view the image.

Re: Microscope Cameras?

It was taken with an EOS 5d mklV, a Sigma EX105 f/2.8 macro lens, and a Nissin MF18 ring flash.

I'll have another go with the direct sharing later.

Re: Microscope Cameras?

It doesn't seem to appear directly on the page, as posting the bb code from Flickr does, just the 'link', albeit it does link to the image I uploaded to their site.

Alan, Fructose can usually be found in Health Food shops. Thanks Alan, I'll have a look at that.

I have a Flickr page/account that I use for my photography, and also use Canon's Irista, but your link could be useful for any microscopy images.

Re: Microscope Cameras?

I 'cropped it down', centered on the object of interest. Although the 2.5x relay lens produces a slightly smaller field of view (magnified) than that seen visually through the 10x eyepieces in the bino head, it is not significant. A 1.6x relay lens would be a better match to the APS-C sensor in the ...

Re: Microscope Cameras?

Thanks guys. At least I have usable imaging system now, thanks to the guys at Bresser. No, I don't have a Plancton net yet Bob, but something to consider for the future. I have a good selection of water plants in the pond, and the birds are visiting the pond to drink, so I think it will mature natur...

Re: Microscope Cameras?

Ok, here it is, the first image with the new setup. As a photographer, I can't say that I'm impressed, but its a start. Bresser Trino at 100x, with a Canon EOS4000d, via a 2.5 relay lens in the photo tube. Not an easy 'critter' to get focus on, as I was using a cavity slide, and he kept changing his...

Re: Microscope Cameras?

Nice to see that sort of response from Bresser, but based on my dealings with them, its no surprise. If and when I upgrade my microscope, I would have no hesitation in going back to Bresser Their customer support is a 'breath of fresh air' in today's world. Indeed, we now have a name, and not a gree...
