Re: 23.2 vs 30mm

I fully agree with Apochromat. What do the eyepieces look like from the bottom? Well that is less than 30 and I am guessing the eyepiece itself may have some restrictions. Here are the measurements of the 30 mm eyepieces on my Leitz Diaplan. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/at1jjf.j...

Re: 23.2 vs 30mm

My personal experience is a microscope built to maximize 30mm eyeieces has no deficit in brightness. Quite the contrary the view is much brighter. This is especially true when used with wider field objectives. Withn that said I was not aware the Motic BA310 had 30 mm view eyepieces. Their website in...

Re: Can i retrofit a Zeiss Axiostar to Trinocular

I did see a newer brochure for a Zeiss indicating that with proper maintenance etc you could expect the scope to last up to 15 years. Of course they fail to mention they themselves attempt to obsolete models within that time. This is quite the contrary to existing older models in fine condition bein...

Re: Can i retrofit a Zeiss Axiostar to Trinocular

Hmm..I would be very surprised if Zeiss responded with any useful information,if they do, awesome. Most of the microscope manufacturers have no interest in facilitating the continued use of their older scopes, hoping instead, to lure you into a newer one with a shorter life span.

Re: Can i retrofit a Zeiss Axiostar to Trinocular

Apparently! Here is one on E-bay with a trinocular head. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Zeiss-Axiostar-Plus-Phase-Contrast-Microscope/274083665700?hash=item3fd0a8d724:g:orwAAOSwt-Bdweun I have seen several although they were all marked as the axio PLUS. I did a quick google search and found a few but they...

Re: Olympus AX/BX/IX DIC

Not unusual. AO and others made their DIC scope using a similar approach. I am not an expert on the physics although I have owned various ones. In the AO you adjusted for each objective to fine tune. Re: Help on Leitz lens...can you help me with the shopping list ?

I have owned them all and eventually sold them and focused on the Diaplan and Dialux. Look through my postings. I would go with the 160 TL objectives and the Laborlux s which is a fine scope.

If you need a manual PM me. I can send you a copy.

Re: Focus stacking

This is a non stacked image. If the specimen is situated in a relatively single plane such as the case with thss specimen stereoscopes do very well without stacking. This was a single shot non optimized lighting and my camera is not positioned as to minimize movement. I am not an expert obviously an...

Re: Focus stacking

Actually you can focus stack images quite well with a stereo scope. Assuming you have a good quality stereoscope lighting is the key. There is some compensation required due to the design of steresocopes greenough or CMO. This results in a less than perfect resolution but good enough. These are 2 of ...

I have used them and find the images to be less than acceptable. As mentioned the highest I go with a dry objective is 60-63X.

Re: Chinese Wild M3 Clone: It's pretty good! [With comparison to mz6]

I agree the Chinese scopes are quite a good value. Given nearly all scopes are made in China, regardless of the brand, it gives the manufacturers access to the same technology. They typically package it into older style stands with various names or even unbranded. I have found they are hesitant or d...

Re: Chinese Wild M3 Clone: It's pretty good! [With comparison to mz6]

I have owned many Chinese clones and have mentioned in the past that at magnifications less than or equal to 40X they are quite comparable to the better known brands such as Nikon, Zeiss etc. It is only at the higher magnifications, if even available, they tend to have poorer optics. But as you ment...

Any 0.5 Aux objective extends the working distance significantly making boom stands more desirable over stands such as the one you are using.

I have had some glycerin jelly I made sitting in my lab frig for years now. Very little discoloration. Although I may see some slight signs of microbial growth. LOL

Never got around to using it. I was trying a different preservative which has worked incredibly.
