Re: Arcella dentata

Hello Johann,
a beautiful creature, and beautiful picture. I too prefer the BF in this example. DIC does not give any extra information.
Do you mind if I add to your thread a side view image of this crown shaped organism?

No, my old one. I received the Zeiss Junior in September, before that I used the Müller and the Tucsen Camera for several years.

Re: Arcella mitrata

Hello 75RR, Objective was 40x Achromat (Müller) I like to use cavity slides, they provide a small aquarium for live organisms, fragile objects do not crush too easily in there, and turning your objects is a bit easier. Big disadvantage for the photographer: organismes have more space to move, and th...

Re: Arcella mitrata

Hello, I am glad you like the photo. And yes I owe you a few details. billben: No preparation, the specimen came straight from the pond. I was lucky to get a young one (the older the darker and opaquer) with a tidy test. And I was again lucky to be able to turn it into this position. I stacked about...

ToupView Software

Hello,

I quite like the ToupView software. Does it only work with the ToupTek/Amscope/Omax series?

Can the Software be used with Cameras other than ToupTek?

Thanks,

Re: ToupTek

Danke Manfred, das Fujinon 1:1,4 / 16mm ist soweit ich sehe, ein Objektiv? Oder eine Kamera? I have also tested the ToupTek C-Mount-Adapter (fixed) with my older Tucsen IS300 camera. No hot-spot, parfocal! So it seems to me a good alrounder for sensor chips of this size-range, for instance for USB3 ...

Difflugia leidyi

Hello, the shell of Difflugia leidyi looks like a Viking helmet. It builds its test from whatever in finds, thereby sometimes looking quite pictoresque, to say the least. It is about 100µm high. http://www.hans-rothauscher.de/testaceen/forum/leidyi.jpg It was named by famous American biologist Josep...

Thanks a lot, John! Before I did not discover the "resolution setting". It is even easier in my program-version: http://www.hans-rothauscher.de/testaceen/forum/resolution.jpg where I select the magnification name from my magnification list. On "OK" it changes from pixel to Mikrometer. Great relief, ...

Hello,
very impressive, though unnatural.
The technique does not show species details very clearly. It looks o me like a Difflugia acuminata with an abnormally short spine. Is it the same as the Difflugia Acuminata in your flicr-album?

Zeiss Junior and CMOS/USB Camera

Hello, Since a few weeks I own a Zeiss KF2 (Junior) equipped with a Touptek 5,1 mp camera (see my introduction). Hello, thanks for your comments. I know that for best microphotos you have to use a DSLR or one with a similarly large image sensor. Re: Arcella crenulata

Hello 75, couldn't agree more. I see that you use a Olympus E-p2. I always thought that micro four/third should be a good solution. 1. do you use it without camera objective? 2. how is the camera connected to the laptop? Can you focus from there and save the image to the drive? (i.e. tethering) 3. h...

Hello,

this a nice image of an 124 µm wide empty Arcella crenulata:

It has its name from the crenulated rim of the pseudostome.
Stack of 6, Zeiss KF2 40x bright field, Touptek 5.1 mp Camera.

Hi,
very nice perfect stack. It is probably Difflugia lithoplites or Difflugia corona. One needs to see the pseudostome.

Hello from Cuxlander

Hello Forum, as my nickname suggests I am from northern Germany (near Cuxhaven). I enjoyed microscoping as a schoolboy, using a very basic instrument. Four years ago I took a new start (with over 70) initially using a Müller Biolab Trino and a 3 mp Tucsen Camera. Recently I bought a Zeiss KF2 (Junio...

Re: ToupView measure units in mm?

Hello nicholascolding and JohnB, Problem solved! I suspected a software snag. So I offloaded my version which came with my Touptect 5.1 Camera and downloaded new from Touptech. It saved all my settings and the measurements with my old calibrations now show micrometers as wanted. I'm glad I found the...

Re: ToupView measure units in mm?

Hello nicholascolding,
When I measure a object, I can only get Toupview to give me a pixelcount, not mm. I changes the units, but the software don´t react.
What to do?
I have the same problem, believing that I did my calibrations properly (many times)
Did you find a solution meanwhile?
Hans
