Re: Zeiss Junior and CMOS/USB Camera

Thanks John, but does not work within my setup. This is an image from my files: http://www.hans-rothauscher.de/testaceen/forum/measure.jpg I cannot change the bottom line to read and the measure-line to show Micrometer, which it does, when I measure a direct snap: http://www.hans-rothauscher.de/test...

Re: Zeiss Junior and CMOS/USB Camera

Hello forum, In the meantime I have partially overcome my problems, often following advices out of the forum, thanks. I have dropped the idea of using battery-driven LEDs. A 32 mm frosted glass filter, together with the blue-filter, eliminates uneven illumination and the otherwise weakly visible lam...

Re: Testate Amoeba in Darkfield

Sorry Hakan, if it sounded critically. Yes I too like pretty pictures and beautiful colors, but Not many of us are breaking any new scientific ground I am not either. Simply, when I see a testate amoebae I want to know its name and family, my defect. That's why I prefer your perfect "polarised" prev...

Re: Testate Amoeba in Darkfield

Hello,
very impressive, though unnatural.
The technique does not show species details very clearly. It looks o me like a Difflugia acuminata with an abnormally short spine. Is it the same as the Difflugia Acuminata in your flicr-album?
Cheers,
Hans

Zeiss Junior and CMOS/USB Camera

Hello, Since a few weeks I own a Zeiss KF2 (Junior) equipped with a Touptek 5,1 mp camera (see my introduction). While I like the microscope, I was from beginning struggling with false colors and flickering in the camera. The ToupView software offers a lot of setting options. Auto Exposure and White...

Re: Arcella crenulata

Hello, thanks for your comments. I know that for best microphotos you have to use a DSLR or one with a similarly large image sensor. (vaselle: particulièrement Canon ou micro four third) Im am however still discouraged by the complex adaption. Also I like to be able to control through the laptop mon...

Re: Hello from Cuxlander

Hello, and thanks for your welcome messages. Richard: I liked your Difflugia 2-video, a very active Difflugia lanceolata (I believe). Oliver and JimT: Yes I had some photos in the Magazine a few years ago, but was never active in the forums. About my problems with Toupcam, wrong colours and flickeri...

Re: Arcella crenulata

Hello 75, couldn't agree more. I see that you use a Olympus E-p2. I always thought that micro four/third should be a good solution. 1. do you use it without camera objective? 2. how is the camera connected to the laptop? Can you focus from there and save the image to the drive? (i.e. tethering) 3. h...

Arcella crenulata

Hello,

this a nice image of an 124 µm wide empty Arcella crenulata:

Image

It has its name from the crenulated rim of the pseudostome.
Stack of 6, Zeiss KF2 40x bright field, Touptek 5.1 mp Camera.

Greetings,
Hans

Re: Testate Amoeba Three

Hi,
very nice perfect stack. It is probably Difflugia lithoplites or Difflugia corona. One needs to see the pseudostome.

Hello from Cuxlander

Hello Forum, as my nickname suggests I am from northern Germany (near Cuxhaven). I enjoyed microscoping as a schoolboy, using a very basic instrument. Four years ago I took a new start (with over 70) initially using a Müller Biolab Trino and a 3 mp Tucsen Camera. Recently I bought a Zeiss KF2 (Junio...

Re: ToupView measure units in mm?

Hello nicholascolding and JohnB, Problem solved! I suspected a software snag. So I offloaded my version which came with my Touptect 5.1 Camera and downloaded new from Touptech. It saved all my settings and the measurements with my old calibrations now show micrometers as wanted. I'm glad I found the...

Re: ToupView measure units in mm?

Hello nicholascolding,
When I measure a object, I can only get Toupview to give me a pixelcount, not mm. I changes the units, but the software don´t react.
What to do?
I have the same problem, believing that I did my calibrations properly (many times)
Did you find a solution meanwhile?
Hans
