Re: Momma water flea with baby
Hahaha, i do agree! I have had not as much luck as you with my samples, just a whole bunch of rotifers. I will scrounge a creek soon (most likely tomorrow) and would love to compare it to what you have. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of your fantastic samples!

Re: 43x very dim
Hm, so would an LED be the best option for a retrofit? It would be relatively easy i thought originally, but now I am wondering if i still should... Well as long as it is not permanent i will be willing to try. I started this thread because the microscope was shockingly dim, my Nikon G is decently b...

Re: 43x very dim
I was thinking actually, it would be really easy to 3D print a LED illumination attachment that would easily fit in the current bulb slot with no modifications to the microscope at all, just screw in the new light source using existing space and screws, but giving me much more light. Or even using a...

Any cleaning tips would be helpful. Also, how does one fix stiff coarse adjustment, along with any other stiff controls.

Re: 43x very dim
OK, sorry for the late reply. When not on my microscope trying to learn (made a cool DIY phone adapter, should talk about it), i was hanging out with my family. 1. My 43x objective has no other writing on it apo 2. The swing out condenser is swung in, if not it gets really dull 3. I noticed how dim ...

Re: 43x very dim
I forgot to say that this occurs when the diaphragm is partially closed, if wide open, it is much brighter but I loose quite a bit of contrast

43x very dim
So I was told that the 43x objective needed a "special" way of illumination. Now I ask, what is this technique? I did make sure that it was clean, and it is indeed so, however is still seems remarkably dim. Thank you all for your input.

Re: AO Series 4 Accidental buy...
Oh and while we are discussing illumination, when I use my 3.5 x objective with the top lens of the condenser screwed on, I get a bright dot in the middle of a dark space. Does this mean I have to adjust it or is this also normal?

Hmm that's interesting. I will need to explore it more when I get home, but do you know how to adjust it? There are 2 small screws in the back that might be the adjustment. Always fun to explore

Re: AO Series 4 Accidental buy...
Finally arrived 30 minutes ago, and all I can say is wow! I will clean it from it's layer of dust but just from a simple onion dermis test, it is much better than my Nikon G. Something's I will not is that 1. The mirror adjustment screw holes or metal bracket is not present. The mirror seems to have...

Re: Nikon "condenser holder"
These precise multi-start threads often need a lot of patience to get them started. It might have been forced in the past and might not thread at all without a slight touch-up with a file. I would clean both components really thoroughly and inspect them for minor damages at the ends of the thread. ...
