I snuck roses home yesterday for todays Valentines Day, champaigne and roses and "PEEPS" candy chicks for my spouse. The lady at the flower shop had no idea where these roses were from when I asked...no bother. I ask, John B., do you know where your current botanical specimens were grown? I'm silly ...

Bravo John B! Is there a possibility, as your useing anthers still 'closed'...is there a possibility we may encounter pollen mother cells at various stages of 'makeing pollen' by meiosis?! Might you have captured stages of the two successive nuclear divisions in the road to pollen formation?! What a...

Beautiful DIC image, 75RR, to my eyes. Tell me...with your 63X objective...does it have a correction collar adjustment ring? I'm curious as to the engraved(or painted) spec on the objective barrel. Does it have the spec: "0.17" on the barrel? I'm of understanding that: WD/working distance is the spa...

Again...super images...I'm getting pulled by microtome compulsion...and yes,yes DIC fever. But go slow on species ID...I noted I have image captures of Spirogyra sexual conjugation...I did not say your zygotes are a Spirogyra species! A good start to ID would be where your sample from..how long ago....

Re: Yes or No on this scope (Amscope T720Q) and why for hobby use.

I am looking for a quality Trinocular with as many options as I can without going waco. Two things I like are: Five Plan Objectives (4x, 10x, 20x, 40x, 100x), and 30mm EPs. http://www.amscope.com/40x-1000x-plan-infinity-kohler-laboratory-trinocular-compound-microscope-3.html What do you think? Hi, 75RR...nice images. The ghostly external husk of the algae species which successfully completed 'sexual conjugation' left these zygotes housed in a row of empty tubes! I'm ashamed to admit ( joke joke) I have spectacular image captures of Spirogyra species 'doing it'. You get a sense of when the...

I'd consider trinocular head on the scope, bright field, dark field, and phase contrast illumination.

I'd consider purchaseing used scope from a reputable firm. Fungus and bacteria, and all the cryptozoa interact in your compost/soil ecosystems. charlie guevara

Your 85% microscopy with the Nosema issues ( a microsporidian, not a bacteria protist) suggests 400-100X quality magnification. To have 'out of the box ready to work for you' that trinocular scope with phase ( great for protists) sounds appealing. Tell us more about this scope: what exact objectives...
