Collapsible golf ball retriever adapted to take a small plastic bottle on the golf ball end. Here I must give a plug to Tony Pattinson's excellent books "The Freshwater Microscopist" including parts 2, 3, and 4, all available from Blurb Books.

Re: WTB Slide Storage Cabinet
Hi Kirby Looks like a very high quality vacuum table - lucky you! Unfortunately I live a little bit out in the sticks, well... that's not really unfortunate at all, but it does mean the nearest colleges, universities, research establishments etc. are a long way away, so auctions such as these are no...

Re: WTB Slide Storage Cabinet
A worthy project well worth the invested sum. I still don't own a 3D printer but seeing what you guys are doing with them has piqued my interest. I assume you have to create a program to print something like this? I'm not very computer savvy so that's probably my main hesitation. Are those all your...

Re: WTB Slide Storage Cabinet
Kirby Thanks for the kind words. For printing I used a standard Creality Ender 3 printer which is relatively small and cheap but still has a good build volume. This project doesn't exactly stretch the printer to its limits on size but it is getting close. I used a PLA filament that I buy for $35.00 ...

Re: WTB Slide Storage Cabinet
I have been intending to do something about slide storage for some time and was finally inspired by Element 56's post at http://www.microbehunter.com/microscopy-forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5953#p84057 . For someone who does 3D printing this may be an acceptable option - not as elegant as Element 56's...

Re: Still Looking into Hoffman Optics
Hi ImperatorRex The Mikrokosmos articles appear to be very good, but they are a difficult job for a non-German speaker to translate, even with the help of Google or Microsoft translation services. I have attempts at translating them tucked away somewhere but the translations are not very lucid. But ...

Re: Pine needle-fluorescence,
Thank you. Great images. In the latter three images, which I assume to be with acridine orange, there appears to be a superb differentiation of tissues, if in fact the various colours actually represent different tissue types. Is that actually the case? Tom W. Yes ,acridine staining make differenti...

Hi Seb
Can you tell us what PEG molecular weight you are using for the hand sectioned samples?
Regards
Tom W.
Edit: OK - brain fade - I just re-read the post - dilute 1500 is the answer! (Or is it 42?)

Think not what you can't see that the SEM can, but what you can see that you couldn't before you had a light microscope.
