I have not done this one yet, but it looks like another easy LED light source... It would be reminiscent of the old external lighting sources for microscopes... I forgot to add, that is a fine looking old Spencer you have there...

With my limited experience with objectives, this does look like fungus... I have seen it once before.... May be quite a job to clean out, but you never know..

Here is a very cheap setup that works well for me in place of the mirror... It is very bright... I bought a cool white and warm white one They were less than $4 each with shipping from Ebay...
