Nikon Alphaphot-2 YS2T

Was planning to put this on EBay for $299, but I thought I'd ask for reasonable offers here first. Nikon Alphaphot-2 YS2T Missing door on bottom of the base that covers the bulb chamber, end of the mechanical stage scale missing 8 mm or so. Does not impede operation. Image shot through this microsco...

Re: Microworld Magic

Sorry had to post, iPad having a sh*t fit.

Anyway, I thought the Zeiss was the finest microscope I would ever lay my hands on, but I was wrong.
I'm in heaven.

Re: Microworld Magic

My pride and joy. My brother worked at the local medical school hospital for 30 years, and he rescued several microscopes on the way to the dumpster. This is what the school did with equipment over 20 years old. Got some nice scopes to clean up and sell, and I immediately appropriated a Zeiss Standa...

Re: Crab spider eyes

Here is as close as I can get to full body.
Stacked edof 5 images. I see it takes many more images to get everything in focus, but if I can learn to land an airplane, I can learn to do anything.
This was taken through the Zeiss Standard. 2.5x obj.
Right after mounting.

Re: Crab spider eyes

Spider was white. Captured hunting on a Shasta daisy. I was trying a dry mount.
They seem to keep better in balsam.
This one seemed to darken around the eyes after death. Ethyl acitate used in the killing jar.

Jumping spider headlights on

Playing around with lighting, I got this with a light blue Reinberg outer ring with a black stop inside. Added a little top lighting to try to bring out the feathery eyelashes. Looks like he left the lights on  Jim Wild Heerbrugg M20 4x Objective ~100x (haven't calibrated the camera magnificati...

Interesting reaction

This is an experiment mounting ants in clear nail polish with rubber cement sealing the coverslip. Just playing around while waiting for some Canada balsam. Bizarre reaction between the nail polish and the rubber cement. The reaction took several weeks to develop, and seems to be still progressing. ...

Re: Claw found in wing of Miller moth

Made the photo quite a few years ago, when I lived in Colorado. Miller's were a real plague that year.
I found it nestled in the leading edge of the wing not too far from the root as I recall.
National stereo microscope.

My first thought is they are used in mating somehow. :?

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M20 EB

Thanks for the links, Charles, I bought the carousel.
Can't afford the trinocular adapter, I use a Zeiss Standard for photography and frankly don't have a camera that can see the difference between it and the M20. It's only perceptible to my eyes and fingers.

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M20 EB

Any advice on the best place to sell this?
The stage is adapted to the wild stage mount.
I wanted to use this stage on mine because it has no plastic gears, but couldn't find a slide finger clip for it.

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M20 EB

Thanks for the suggestions. I believe I've got it sorted. Under the stereo microscope I was able to see a tiny spot of dried oil on the barrel. I found a thicker oil to work best. Crosman pell gun oil of all things.

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M20 EB

Still want to find the filter carousel, and would like a 20x objective. Any suggestions for a light oil for the spring nose on the HI 100? It can stick and be a slide breaker. Had dried immersion oil all over it. Cleaned all I could with acetone and lens paper. But the receding barrel is still stick...

Re: Wild Heerbrugg M20 EB

Beautiful microscopes, Charles.
I'm new to the forum, but just finished restoring an M20 for myself.
Only way to get a complete one.

I need to figure out how to put pix up here.

What an instrument! It's like a Leikaflex camera on a Norden bombsight.
