Re: Very fascinating microscopic creature! Not determined but possibly a ciliate ?

Great looking pond you've got there! :) The organism is a stalked peritrich ciliate (likely a vorticellid) that has come loose from its stalk. This can happen spontaneously when a sample is transferred to a slide. There is a also a phase of life during which peritrichs abandon their stalks and beco...

Very fascinating microscopic creature! peritrich without stalk (ID-help (Bruce Taylor)

A bit shaky clip due to a larger creature that was next to it, but felt like I still wanted to share it with you.
It's the same pond I found (Phacus' creature) yesterday. A small pond located in the country between a few fields. Continues the search tomorrow for more :D (Phacus) //KD

A very beautiful creature (Phacus)

Unfortunately a dirty sample on a very beautiful and fascinating microscopic creature. Filmed with HY-2307 Camera and Nikon Labophot 2 microscope, Brightfield technique and used magnification 100x-200x. By KD Arvidsson

Re: Microscope and monitor sharpen?

Nothing stupid about that--even the language to describe it isn't standardized across or even within brands (erect/upright/nonreversed) and it's a non-issue for most normal microscopy so it doesn't get discussed much. That's why it's hard to figure out whether a particular head has the feature othe...

Re: Paramecium caudatum?

I think this is Paramecium caudatum, but I am not sure. The CV's of P. caudatum must have side channels and I do not see these in the ciliates I filmed. Best to look for it at the last part of the video, the oblique illumination part, that's also filmed at higher magnification and show more detail. ...

Re: Labophot 2 condenser holder Help!

Thank you so much Hans and Pete for being so helpful. Unfortunately the little plastic piece was missing! However, I have put the piece of metal there and it works temporarily. Probably there was no piece of plastic there, when I bought the microscope so it was probably a cheating job ... // :D

Re: Microscope and monitor sharpen?

You don't need a calibration slide to test. The question is just whether the image moves the same direction that the slide moves--so if you move it to the right and away from you, if the image in the eyepieces moves in the same direction or reversed. Reversed is typical for biological systems, but ...

Not a Nikon scope user, but your eyepieces may not be original Nikon.

Example: https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/index. ... ic=38172.0
Ok I understand! Thanks for the link, maybe i will buy other eyepieces in the future but they work verywell ... :D

I have no idea what this little animal is .... ?? But it was found in a sample from the sea! They are quite transparent and what I can understand is that, we can see some kind of digestive system? Camera HY-2307 and Nikon Labophot 2 microscope. //KD
