Thanks for your comments, Glot … but they are largely superfluous my situation. I am hoping to use LED to replace a powerful tungsten-halogen fibre-optic illuminator. These particular items may, or may not, turn-out to be suitable … but they are very reasonably priced, and ‘interesting’ MichaelG. H...

I ‘attended’ another mmc2021 presentation today … this one by CoolLED They were promoting this: https://www.coolled.com/products/pe-800/ Very impressive, but again it’s way out of my price range … I am just gathering useful information MichaelG. . Re: This e-bay item looks familiar for some reason
Presumably it is Saul’s ebay listing ... unless someone has done a very good knock-off MichaelG. Nope, it is me :) I found that following the youtube video linked in his post here. So I do think it is him. He sells that and well done sets of oblique filters with filter holder for various popular re...

Re: Nikon 33mm Filter adapter
I'm using the same Nikon Labophot Abbe 1.25 Condenser that was illustrated in the original article. I do have your kit for darkfield/oblique and that works very well, but I also need a standalone 20x insert for another application, hence my request! Thanks Michael I can send you just Nikon insert, ...

Re: Nikon 33mm Filter adapter
Can anyone tell me whether the MXA20495 33mm filter holders are still available anywhere? These are key elements in Cark Hunsingers' design of a darkfield adapter for the Nikon Labophot condensers. I only need one to complete my set but all the sites I've looked at state "No longer available". I co...

Re: Dimmable LED/flash microscope illuminator
Such elegant work, Saul! Do you plan to sell such finished customized light sources on eBay? My DIY solution is similar to daruosha (I use prism under condenser to reflect speedlite) and nowhere as elegant as yours. Thanks Fan ! Yes, it will be on eBay. Or, if somebody is interested, please PM me

Re: Dimmable LED/flash microscope illuminator
LED version only, but can be upgraded to the direct flash plus LED version also. Picture shows simple heatsink, but unit can be used with much more powerful LEDs using bigger heatsinks.

Re: Dimmable LED/flash microscope illuminator
Finalized version with heatsink which can handle approx. 22w (continuous duty). This design allows to use more powerful LEDs also (there is no heat stress on the 3D printed body) with bigger heatsink (or adding additional surfaces to the existing one (big plus of the T-Slot extrusion)). That all all...

Re: Motic / Zeiss condenser
Another interesting piece - Optico BM2000 condenser.
Looks like a mix of the Nikon Alpha (top) and Eclipse (bottom) parts. What is interesting, it fitted Eclipse DF conversion insert , just I had to make it little bit shorter.
Is this again some Chinese creation or it is something rebranded ?

Motic / Zeiss condenser
Got Motic (as per ebay listing description) condenser:
After couple weeks I saw another same condenser listing, which states that it is a Zeiss Primo Star condenser.
Mistake in the listing, both brands sharing same condenser or something else ?
