Re: Reichert 181 eyepiece field curvature

We have a subject of this thread related to the 181 eyepiece as it relates to curvature of field. However most of the discussion is related to CA and correction on CF systems such as Nikon. Two factors come into play, 1. Manufacturers develop “ optical systems”. It is not relevant to discuss Leica 1...

Re: Two diopter-adjustable eyepiece mounts on one head -- why?

The two adjustable eye tubes are for use on dual and multi view microscope systems so the secondary users can adjust each eye for acuity differences from the main user.

they also made a deep UV version of this platform as other geometry of the devices reached sizes below the resolution of visible light microscopes. Quartz optics throughout. Eyepieces were not required as only UV sensitive detectors could form the images.

This is one of the Semiconductor workstations that was built off the Ergoplan microscope platform. Depend on the timing, it could be called a IMS 2000. The Leica Semiconductor Equipment Group was divested to Vistec in the mid 2000's about the time Danaher became the buyer of Leica Microsystems.

Re: Polyvar MET (side camera port)

I think your adapter is from a third party supplier such as Diagnostic Instruments. The threaded portion is likely a C'Mount. The camera adapters that Reichert made for the Polyvar went horizontally to the left side of the scope. They also had an optic in them that used a wide Field eyepiece. The du...

Could you provide images of the devices with the descriptors showing. Also can you see the DIC prisms in the condenser? Is the Polyvar equipped with TL and RL? It appears that you have a Polyvar Bio with Fluorescence and TL DIC capabilities. The slider on the left looks like it could be a Polarizer....

Re: AO one-hundred vs one-ten?

The Series 100 was in fact a response to the lower price strategy that Olympus was using to gain Market share in the clinical lab segment. AO didn’t want to devalue the Series 110 so the 100 was introduced. Obviously cost cutting was implemented, as well, to offer a scope that had $1995 list price w...

Re: Cute little AO scope

The K1453 was a bullet and tool mark comparison scope produced by the special jobs shop at American Optical. It was also called a UFM. There were several iterations that led to the UFM 4 aka K2700. As models of AO scope changed Series 2/4; Series 10, Series 110: 410, the UFMs were updated as well. T...

Re: AO one-hundred vs one-ten?

Good discussion from all. To answer the original question, the Series 100 and Series 110 were essentially the same microscope. The Series 100 was introduced after the 110 to be positioned at a lower price point. The difference we’re in the paint color and texture. The 110 had a glossy powder coated ...

Hopefully this will be helpful. In reference to the AO/Reichert infinity objectives. The eyepieces for the Series 10 through Series 410 were not compensated. The compensation took place in the objective or the Tele-lens. This is essentially what Nikon did with the CFI ( chrome free) objective series...

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

When you checked the field size between the Olympus and Reichert 40x objective was it on the same microscope? If not, what was the field number on the Reichert eyepiece? Olympus Eyepiece. If it was on the same microscope, the difference is due to the reference focal length difference. Otherwise the ...

Re: Leica Reichert Jung Polyvar (models)

I'd like to make a few comments and update some information from the earlier discussions in this thread. Re: isn't this a good deal for a Leica microscope ?

That Reichert objective is from the Polyvar /Ultrastar rather than the Leica 410. The other difference is the reference focal length is 183mm vs 200mm for the DMLS. Consequently the true magnification would not be as indicated.

Adding further to the comment regarding the Hemacytometer. The coverslips were designed to be reused after cleaning. They are 0.4mm thick. so the 40x objective usually used for counting RBC, WBC and Platelets needs to have a forgiving working distance. The kit usually came with two coverslips. Regar...

Re: WTB: Leitz mechanical stage for polarizing stage #40, #42 Part Number 553082

One factor you should keep in mind when looking for a circular stage that will be used for Polarization, is the stage center-able, or is the microscope nose piece center-able? Especially if the intended use is as a true PLM. Ideally the nose piece will be center-able because it does not require the ...

Also LKB and a few others were added to the mix on the specimen prep side of the business. In any case the GZ line was an e...
