Re: Copepod, Amoeba and Algae
Thank you all for your kind comments! Hello Hakan, they are all great. I like the Arcella best. I believe its a young Arcella gibbosa, when they grow older they partly loose their hyalanity. The blob bottom left of the sarcode is a contractile vacuole. By osmotic pressure the organism constantly abs...

Copepod, Amoeba and Algae
Here are some images from old photo sessions this summer/fall. The last one (Arcella) was a real pain and is hand-stacked. It was impossible to get Zerene or Helicon to do a decent job, so I hand stacked it from 14 images and manually selected the focus areas using the Zerene retouching module. Took...

Looks like a piece of fiber. It can move due to movement in the fluid as it dries out. Does not look like anything (alive) I have seen.

...again I ask...was it fresh collected/ fresh observed? Charlie guevara Yes, It was fresh observed. I sucked it out of the bottle and put in onto the slide with a water film. #1 cover slip. A lot of movement inside the desmid. Especially at the ends where a lot of small organelles were tumbling ar...

Re: Olympus CX21. Your opinion?
I think 500 is a decent price. I had a CX40 which looks very similar. They also have infinity objectives and I paid $700. That was like 5 years ago. I would for sure go for infinity objectives as it is more future proof. It will allow you to upgrade to a more advance stand later if needed. Microscop...

Thank you all for looking and for you comments! Very nice! Thank you for sharing, Hakan. The Copepod photo was taken with 10x objective, I am guessing? How many frames did you use for that stack? Yes, 10X. 26 images in the stack. Stacked in Helicon Stacker. Beautiful copepod and cladoceran water fle...
