Re: Agonizing over a BX60
If it is finally a good deal depends also on the condition of the scope. A scratch here and there on oculars and objectives...and you will end up buying another stuff. And buying piece by piece certainly can then add up to quite a bunch of money. I am sorry, this certainly makes your decission not e...

HI smollerthings, Image is showing up here on my side. Hi Wyatt, congrats to your scope, thanks for sharing with us! I still remember when I was 13 years old when I got a microscope for Christmas. Was a very, very basic "toy level" microsocope, not so nice than yours. Still lots stuff to explore :-).

If renaissance wax is too soft, you can also try polishing paste.
Certainly it helps to disassamebly footplate etc. Also you would remove the optics and close any openings carefully.

Hi linuxusr,
guess it is not P. bursaria. Shape is different and think there are no symbiotic algae, at least I cannot spot them.
P. bursaria should really be a green fellow, like my avatar

Re: Can I swap the head and focusing block on this late Zeiss universal? s
Hi, current equipment fitted to your tube head looks different to what I have seen so far. Also the condensor and table carries are somehow not the standard ones that I would recognize, seems table is special "Pol" version. I have not switched the different versions of the focus block, but it is wor...

Re: My Zeiss Microscopes
Hi Adam, The KPL 10x or 12.5x Oculars without marking of the FOV do have a FOV "18". I agree with you, I also found the the tube head factor of 1,25x of the Phomi or Universal really annoying! I always wondered why Zeiss did it... it reduces the FOV significantly, so the KPL Oculars with FOV 18 are ...

Re: My Zeiss Microscopes
Hi Adam, my pleasure to answer your questions: yes, these KPL-W eye pieces have a FOV 20. They are rare to find, especially without delamination. There is therefore another option to achive a large FOV with the "wide field objective nose piece". Such objective turrets have a mag. factor of 0.63. Exa...

Hi hermez,
just wondering if a Stereo Microscope will be a better choice instead of a epi equipped compound microscope for your observations?
But of coarse depends what you expect or really want to do.

Re: My Zeiss Microscopes
Hi hermez, like Adam mentioned, I would make the choice based what you find on the "market". Both Zeiss Standard RA/WL or Universal/Phomi will do a nice job for Epi, EpiPol or Epi DIC. As Adam also mentioned you will need some time and passion to find the parts and pieces or you have luck to get a c...
