Re: What is the difference between these microscopes ? Which one is better ?
Thanks PeteM for your comments. I have been the recipient of significant input/advice from Apochronaut over the past few months. I have sometimes had to re-read his words carefully because there was a lot of information there. For me, it has always been helpful, supportive, informative and interesti...

more beach sand
Inspired by Hobbyist46's recent post, i put my beach sand on my AO110 with polarized light and stacked some images. The garnets are really nice. Used 40x and 20x objectives. Last image is the sand under the stereoscope. Pink grains are garnet.

Re: Shell picking from Red Sea sand
Very nice post and pics, thanks! I've been looking at local beach sand under the stereo scope too. I need to keep experimenting. Here is a sample.
The clear is quartz, pink is garnet (some with inclusions), black are iron/metal oxides. Brown looks like root beer soda bottle:)

Hi all.
Image stacks using my SZ7. At least two different spherical structures are evident. Does anyone know what the big translucent ones are vs the smaller opaque ones?

Porgy season opened this week on Long Island and I had some luck.
Other than the stray fibers, interesting tree-ring like structure, under polarized light.

Re: more crystals
Thanks jimur; yes, I like these too! My challenge has been with ascorbic acid where i've seen others with amazing results. I am working with pure crystal vitamin C, water and alcohol and i generally go for slow evaporation. I'll keep trying! Any other suggestions welcome.

Stitched images.
I haven't had much luck with ascorbic acid. The crystals are small and semi- opaque/muddy looking. Any suggestions from the experts? Thanks!

Thanks Phil, I i see these for sale and commonly they are less expensive than B&Ls. I was wondering what scope(s) they are intended for.

Hi all, does anyone know what scope Leica 31 15 81 10X WF eyepieces are intended for? Would they work fine on a B&L SZ7 for example?
Thanks in advance!

Re: How much camera before diminishing returns
As always great community support. I will post the photos. I have to figure out how to reduce the size of the file, but will try to do that tonight. To add more context, I was not thinking I could take magazine photos as those are retouched and use expensive equipment, but I figured like you can ta...

Picked up a like new B&L R stand and then a beautiful SZ7. Really impressed with the view and quality. Joined my AO Cycloptic and 110. Pretty good initial results with focus stacking, cheers!

Re: Universal microscope adapters, ndpl1 vs ndpl2
That's confusing to me as the adapters come with T threads to allow camera specific adapters. Oh well... It looks like they include the camera-specific T adapter ... which would explain the need for a suffix MichaelG. Well that makes sense to me now. I've seen this part for sale from $59 to $450. N...

Universal microscope adapters, ndpl1 vs ndpl2
Hi all. I have a few questions regarding universal camera adapters labeled as ndpl-1 (2x) & ndpl-2 (2x): 1) is this a general product with same labeling used by various manufacturers? I've seen a wide range in price for these adapters. 2) what is the difference between these two adapters? Would one ...
