Re: Microscope Cameras?
... A 2x would be a good compromise, but failing that, the 10x offers quite an acceptable solution IMO. Are the 2X and the 10X supposed to do exactly the same function, and one of them does it better than the other, and both results are still acceptable ? that would be an unrealistic lattitude IMHO...

Re: Microscope Cameras?
I posed another couple of questions to Bresser, and received a prompt reply, copied below. I have say that their customer support is first class. I experimented with their suggested solution, using one of the existing 10x oculars from the bino head, and holding it against the T2 mount, and it does ...

Re: Microscope Cameras?
I have now heard back from Bresser, and they suggest this item. However, it is 10x, and as such suitable for a full frame sensor, and not the APS-C that I am using. I have asked if they can supply a 2x equivalent. I'm not sure if the item they show, is just an eyepiece, and not an an inline unit wi...

Re: Reduction lens/sensor size
Thank you, all. I'll scrap the the 0.5x reduction lens idea and look for something more fitting, like a 1x or 2x adapter. Worst that can happen is another epic fail that can be added to my growing collection. Not everything can be forseen, there are simply too many variables in the world of classic...

Re: Fine focus gone ...
I have repaired an old Zeiss Standard, it might have been an RA or early 14. There was no plastic in important places. The great idea about this gear box is the spring loaded planetary gear that is based on steel balls, not gears. It prevents the high ratio of the fine focus to destroy something, i...

Re: Microscope Cameras?
Your microscope is a bit more upmarket than mine Alan, hence the 30mm oculars. It does seem the fireisto is on the right track, and aligns with other references. I found this: The adapter that can be used with the lens exchange type camera of the APS - C sensor is 2.5 times or more. It seems that t...

Re: Looking for diatom slides for objective testing.
I got my 8 form test plate and it looks very interesting, I only wanted it to test objectives but now I want to make my own diatom slides. It just looks so appealing somehow. I also checked the Italian website and it sounds very professional. Is there a good starting guide to cleaning and mounting ...

Foretunately it is different than the focus block of the GFL, so hopefully repairable. I believe Charles could help.

Re: Microscope Cameras?
Since a major feature of this Bresser photo tube is to maintain parfocality between the camera and eyepieces, they will most probably provide the best solution for the DSLR.

Re: Microscope Cameras?
Tried it out for real, and I found that to get anywhere near focus, it does not need the extension tubes. I removed the tubes, and slid the 23mm nose piece into the fixed aperture on the trioc, and found it very close, but not exactly, parfocal with the 10x objective, and 10x eyepieces. Unfortunate...

Re: Objectives?
Will higher end objectives from Zeiss, Leica or Olympus thread into an Omax microscope? And will they resolve images better than the objectives that come with an Omax or one can buy from Omax? Probably, yet there are several conditions for successful replacement: 1. That the objectives are of the s...

Re: Using flash produces blurred images
How are shutter vibrations transmitted to the flash ? The camera is fairly remote from the illuminator.
Perhaps the synchro signal to the flash interferes (electronically) with the camera exposure mechanism ?

The Microscope has Plan Infinity lenses so shouldn't need anything else but I will see when the T2 canon ring arrives sometime on Friday I think. Re: Microscope Cameras?
I would need to ascertain that it had HDMI out, for live view on the PC monitor. Another thing that I am sure of, whereas I can easily source both a T2 mount/adapter, and a T2 to 23mm adapter, I wonder how I would incorporate a focal reducer in line, and what size reduction would be needed to bring...

Re: Microscope Cameras?
The price of the 4000D is decent. The only small issue that I see it is that the LCD screen is fixed. However, the camera can be remote-controlled, so perhaps that is not an issue at all. If the optics on your microscope is finite (160mm tube length), it is likely that aberrations in the objectives ...

Re: Portable microscope
Nice find. A cover in the style of Wild, sturdy and reliable. No doubt it can be easily upgraded just a little bit by adding a LED light and an eyepiece USB camera, connected to a laptop. This is likely easier to do than finding a binocular head. Although, the basic small compact size of the scope i...

...Does your box have diagonal cut finger joints at the corners? Zeiss Jena had a series of very nice boxes. Re: Microscope Cameras?
One thing that concerns me, with many of these eyepiece cameras, is that I have seen reported that they can have an image magnification factor of up to 30x, which if put behind a 40x objective is going to produce and image scale of 1200x, and an incredibly narrow Field of View. The do have very sma...

Re: Why do these two 20x objectives have a price difference?
I bought the 4X and the 10X PlanF about a year and half ago out of curiosity. They do indeed perform similarly to what I would have expected out of a fluorite objective. Ca is reduced, they are bright and the resolution is better than any of the Chinese made planachros I had here at the time or hav...

Re: Microscope Cameras?
The first two links, on my computer, only showed dog pictures and "Sorry..." or send to the Amazon home page. The link to the Bresser camera raises questions: 1. Does the camera fit the phototube diameter of your microscope ? probably so, but I would ask to verify. 2. Are the objectives on your scop...

Re: Why do these two 20x objectives have a price difference?
In my experience, they do run their business in a very strange way; but it appears to generate cash. In addition to applying a shotgun approach to pricing, they really can't answer any questions beyond the most rudimentary. If you dig in, a manager can be brought on board as in most other volume sa...
