Ahhhh... thank you 75RR. Of course they are bees, now that I look at them more closely They still seem familiar, but I'll just put that down to my continuing decline into senility.

Another beaut 75RR... very nicely done.
Changing the topic slightly, can you tell us about your little fly logo? I have this strong feeling I've seen it before somewhere, possibly in connection with a mathematical problem, but that might just be my geriatric mind wandering!

Depending on your intended use, if you decide to try silicone sealant, you should be careful about which type you use. Most sealants intended for household use, e.g. bathtub sealant etc., are compounded with antifungals, which can be harmful to living organisms. There are sealants made without these...

Thanks for the update on Part 4 of the series Kurt. I have the other three, but wasn't aware that Tony had released a fourth. Re: HA2307 HDMI industrial camera
Hi 75RR I'm beginning to feel guilty about hijacking Radazz's post with this but... I agree that you need to know what the pixel size really is in order to compare it with what is needed. I guess, for me at least, the discussion boils down to the recognition that, in order to figure out what pixel s...

Re: HA2307 HDMI industrial camera
Hi 75RR I think the misunderstanding is because I used an unfortunate term, pixel density, since it implies pixels/mm^2, or some such, whereas I was using it the sense of "number of pixels/sensor". That's because I'm an idiot. The intent was to get around the issue of different sized sensors ...

Re: HA2307 HDMI industrial camera
The pixel size should be 3 or 4 times smaller that the projected size of the object you are trying to capture. See link and the extract below: https://www.lumenera.com/blog/understanding-resolution-in-digital-microscopy please note that when they say: " largest possible pixel size required to fully...

Re: HA2307 HDMI industrial camera
I've been a little perplexed while following this thread. The idea that resolution depends primarily on pixel size is the idea that's causing me problems. I admit that "primarily" has not been explicitly stated, but seems to be implicit in the arguments. If carried to extremes this would imply that ...

Re: Determining the molecular organisation of biological materials using polarized light microscopy
I used a 10x objective, 10x eyepiece and 1.6x optovar magnification, both images were cropped from stacked photos. Later I can take some images of a stage micrometer and calculate the number of pixels per graduation to generate a scale bar. Thank you, Wes, for the clarification. No need to generate...

Re: Determining the molecular organisation of biological materials using polarized light microscopy
Fascinating stuff Wes, excellent images and a very clear exposition of the physics of the process. Can you give an idea of the scale of the images, or at least the objective powers used?
Thanks for sharing.

I think there's a lesson here for all of us 75. It seems that with only one microscope, and only one objective, and one or two sampling locations, it's possible to keep turning out remarkable images! I appreciate it's not quite as simple as that of course, but it does cause one to pause and think a ...
