Re: how many microscopes do you have?
The correct number of microscopes to own is n+1, where n is the number currently owned.

Re: BH-2 RFCA, filtre cubes, filtres and accessories
English is not my native language so some subtleties in wording .. I stated ”assumption” the UV light damages the lens kit/glue. I personally have a completely fogged SPlanApo 40* and 2 10* phase Achromats with the effects shown. https://www.mikroskopie-forum.de/index.php?topic=47330.msg348691#msg34...

Re: BH-2 RFCA, filtre cubes, filtres and accessories
Note: on the German forum we have a few cases of Olympus SPlanApo an DPlanApo with fogging, assumption here is the fogging is caused by usage on a UV scope.

Re: Lubricating cube slider/carrier in the olympus BH-2 RFCA
Tim, Check the BH2 maintenance video’s on the Alan Wood website filmed by our forum member Carl H.: it will give you a clue on how little grease is required. I overhauled 7 BH2 scopes and 4 CH2: my first small Plastilube grease tube is still at 50%. The helicoid grease is still at 95% unused. YMMV t...

Re: Lubricating cube slider/carrier in the olympus BH-2 RFCA
I found the service manual. It states that the proper lubricant (if I interpret it correctly) is “Losoid 72515.” Now where would one obtain this? The original Olympus greases are “unuptanium”: nowhere to find. Any light grease will do, e.g. search for “helicoid grease“ if you have no access to spec...

For a slider I would look for a lighter grease type, Plastilube may be to thick.

Re: DARKFIELD WITH OLYMPUS CH2
Darkfield using a 40* requires critical centering as stated in previous post. The ORIGINAL Olympus dark field stop (size does matter here) is readily available on the US .bay and “reasonable” priced. A few pictures of the condenser will help to verify what condenser version you have, looks like you ...

Re: Lubricating cube slider/carrier in the olympus BH-2 RFCA
Auch.. keep silicon spray away from your optics! You cannot dose it properly and even if you can it will migrate to the lens / filter surfaces in the end. Disassembly, clean (lighter fluid will do) and relube with Plastilube break lubrication. I do not have the RCFA unit myself, but be aware screw h...

Ange, Detailed pictures of your configuration will help us helping you, common reasons why DF does not work A: The condenser has to be “up” and nearly touching your slide to make it work with the 40*. Several of the entry versions of the CH2 have a simple condenser mechanism to move the condenser up...

Re: Help: has anyone ever used Olympus DCW Darkfield condenser?
Hmm this Dark field condenser looks like a BH version with an ADDED mounting ring to match the BH2/Motic. May be in error as I only have the lower NA version. This will make the centring exercise even more important. Plus wondering whether the optical “train” of mixed Motic and Olympus parts in cond...

Re: Magnification of the NFK eyepiece in the Olympus BH-2 system
Your BH2 does NOT have an infinity corrected optical system, it is finite so a NFK correction eyepiece IS required. “Because if I understand correctly, I'll need a lens to project the image coming out of the eyepiece onto the sensor of my camera (because it's a virtual image, right?).” Using the L-t...

Combined with the L-tube and P-type eyepiece you require :
PM-ADP
P eyepiece
L-tube
Olympus- canon eos adapter like this one https://www.ebay.nl/itm/122637823689
Camera
You do not require a T2 adapter

Re: Quick adaptor advice- Olympus EHT trinocular + Canon 1000D parfocality adaptors?
Sorry, the adapter you bought will only function on a micro with infinity objectives. As stated on the Alan Wood pages + above you require an Olympus FK correction eyepiece (finite objectives require a MATCHING projection eyepiece for color correction). (assuming you are using the original supplied ...

When an objective has a notation of “php2” on it, what is it telling us? As I mentioned before I have seen a number of Chinese objectives with the notation “php” which is a phase designation. How do you think the “php” versus “php2” objectives differ? PHP2 is commonly used by Zeiss to indicate the ...

Re: Removing the drawing attachment from Olympus BH2
There's also a sort of rotating metal "hood" at the distal end of the tube, and when open it throws a distracting shaft of light over the middle of the visual field. Yep that is exactly what it is supposed to do: the mirror at the end projects the drawing paper and your pencil image on the desk tab...

As it looks a lot like the one used on a BH2.
I may have a spare one (have to check - currently on holiday)
Mainland Europe.
Measure it up and reach out via PM if interested.

Mind the screws on older Olympus scopes may look like Philips heads, they are NOT.
You will need JIS type screwdrivers or you wil ruin the heads.
