Re: Motic SMZ143 with Motic 2x SLR Projection Lens
For an APS-C or micro four thirds solution, you could start with a 1X c-mount adapter for a one-inch sensor. Alas, Motic apparently expects you to also have an SMZ-161, -168 or -171.

Re: Motic SMZ143 with Motic 2x SLR Projection Lens
... That said I just put the camera on the trinoc port without any intervening optics, which gives a tiny bit of vignetting but is more favorable resolution-wise. I quite agree. I think free air, direct projection is the way to go for stereo microscopes, although I find micro-four thirds cameras, r...

By any chance does that one have an ISO 38 mm photo port (as John eyes a Leitz ISO 38 to c-mount adapter)?

Re: So, will I get the optics clean (Wild drawing tube)?
Thank you all for the suggestions and encouragement. A large Giottos Rocket Blaster took off a few specs: the above image shows what would not budge. I can not find any cleaning scratches, so some of the dust may been stuck there for decades. I would say I have a few days to ponder my next move. Mea...

So, will I get the optics clean (Wild drawing tube)?
I have two surfaces like this in each infinity optical path of an old, Wild M3 drawing tube: https://thumbs2.imagebam.com/f1/60/5d/f73d4e1359327181.jpg The dust is killing the image brightness and contrast but is not doing much to the resolution from what I can tell so far. It appears I will be the ...

Use a remote shutter release to avoid jarring the microscope and camera, or the self-timer to wait for both to settle after you press the shutter button?

Re: Matching camera with C-mount
You mean to ask where I live? South Florida I asked because I have a couple, extra, used micro four thirds bodies I picked up while researching cameras to mount on a 1" c-mount photoport. You could use one to evaluate the microscope and photoport, and get some idea of what you might then need. I pa...

Re: Matching camera with C-mount
... Seeing as I have the 1x already, I will need to find a camera with a 1" sensor? I guess this limits my choices. Re: Matching camera with C-mount
If you do not need live video, I would get a used, micro four thirds system camera and mount it with an inexpensive c-mount to µ4/3rds thread adapter. Been there, done that, problem solved and more cheaply. If you need live video, you may want to price out the alternatives.

Re: Anyone know what's the name of this AC adapter thing?
The microscope looks like it has an IEC-60320 C14 receptacle that accepts a line cord with a IEC-60320 C13 plug, or often in short, an IEC C13 mains/power cable . Here are some more from a Germany distributor to suggest what I might pay for a non-native import. (I hope I making sense: I am not usual...

Re: First microscope options
My heart sinks whenever someone advertises they are ISO 9001 certified. That just means they have a system in place to achieve some quality level. In practice that level has almost always been much lower than I want or need, as if advertising the certification reduces quality.

Argghhh.... sounds perfect, the shared path is good presumably for stills where video-logging isn't needed! If you like you could shoot video while viewing through the eyepieces. I mounted the digital camera in place of what, years ago, would have been a video camera with a one-inch vidicon tube. W...

Yes, they do seem to have a consistently excellent reputation. I must however have the ability to use both eyepieces AND the camera simultaneously, preferably switchable too. Does yours have this capability? I had to hunt for the right photo tube, but it does now: either split 50:50 between the eye...

Re: Considering upgrade of stereozoom 'scope

Or so it seems to me. I have a mongrel example using parts from four different microscopes, or ...

On my wild m400, when switching from 100/0 to 50/50 the difference in illumination is often completely invisible to the eye, even though the switch is almost instantaneous.... IIRC, the Just Noticeable Difference (Weber fraction) for brightness is ca. 8% so you should notice something, but sometime...

Thank you for that. The G9 shutter can be both fully electronic and electronic at the start. The latter could be the business at low-ish magnifications and for long exposures.

I found the anti-shock feature of my Olympus E-PL1, the light version of your P2, was surprisingly effective. My camera has the same shutter, so its kick/camera-weight ratio should be even greater. Re: Help needed to design adaptor for Mirrorless camera
Yes, the crux is getting close enough for parfocal, direct projection. The camera flange may need to sit almost 30mm into the original eyepiece tube. Perhaps you could decapitate a tube and make two quick-change adapters: a short one for the camera and a longer one when you want to use the eyepiece.
