Re: Bausch and Lomb auction

Why, well, because, I don't have this in my collection. Warning! That sort of reasoning can lead to a serious shortage of space. ;) We are erecting a huge steel building for Charles! I was going to bid but Charles seems to need it and I have enough microscopes I guess. :-) I will go inspect it thou...

Re: Say Hello to a New Zeiss Family Member

Congratulations Charles!

FYI, I have friends that put up steel buildings. Not long ago they built one for a milking operation over 1300 feet long. I can get a bid for housing your Zeiss collection if you like? :-)

Point taken Charles but don't expect me to worry about you going broke. :-) I really do need to keep working on the Zeiss more than look at other projects! (But I am weak.) Thank you very much apochronaut! Your great rundown of Balplans and this one in particular have me anxious to do an inspection....

Info on the Balplan:http://lrak.net/secret/Balplan/balplan/index.html Wow That is a treasure chest for Balplan owners! They sold for big bucks! Thanks Glen. Where is the Zeiss Standard page like that! It could be a good buy depending on the price and condition of the objectives and phase condenser....

Re: Looking for digital camera for my microscope

Thank you for all of your replys I stick to my phone for now thank you For those wishing another fairly reasonable option, with a little patience, a nice dslr can be had on ebay. For me, a $150 Canon 500D (T1i) and a $15 mount seemed a better route. I especially think the "live view" is a valuable ...

Bausch and Lomb auction

Anyone have any comments on a B&L Balplan? Aparrantly it is a phase setup? You have to wonder how long it has been sitting around sans oculars and why.

Re: Zeiss Standard gets a new home

It's usually harder to take pictures with higher mag objectives since the depth of field is so shallow. Try some pictures using your 10X or 16X...What objectives do you have now with your scope? 2.5, 10, 40, 100 I really want a 63 & a 16. :-) I suspect the camera is no where near correctly set up. ...

In any case, if you own a decent phone, the two adapters discussed above should only run you about $30 total, and will make a huge improvement in ease of use and quality and consistency. I think JimT's advice on objectives is great and i intend to go that route. Do you really need another whole series of eyepieces for your new scope? Maybe start out with 10s and decide by observation of a single one that you already own if any other magnification is really doing you any good? I thin...

I am new but can say plans and acros can all be used, even mixed is no problem, in the same nosepiece. You do know neither of those scopes is likely to resolve an image of even 1000x? Further answering you, plans give a wider, nicer image. But I have to say you are spending close to what a Zeiss sta...
