Re: Cover for microscopes

I figure you could ship quite a few in a flat rate priority mail box.

Hopefully no one takes offense as I did not intend this post to be for "selling" anything.

She could probably "tighten up" the fit as well. Though I am always leaving photo tubes and even the camera on some of my scopes.

Re: Cover for microscopes

Ok. Here is the first Production run. My wife made one for my AO Biostar. It is made of Rip Stop Nylon. What do you think? She said she could make them for $20-$25. $25 for inverted and $20 for basic compound stands. If you want a custom cover she would need the measurements. It is a little long as ...

Re: Cover for microscopes

Breathable material is, based on my research, a preference rather than a real need. The development of fungus is predicated on the lack of light and high humidity which was an issue with the old microscope boxes. That is not the case with vinyl covers that allow light and air circulation in an aroun...

Should be a lever etc that switches it from binocular to the trinocular tube.

Re: Ant Photos comparing set-up.

I will be playing with Meiji Techno stand next> How I set it up has yet to be determined. It uses a microscope head and objective turret attached to a stand. Here is the Nikon Set-up http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt43/balaormiga/IMG_9551.jpg http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt43/balaormiga/IM...

Ant Photos comparing set-up.

Ok I have been experimenting with various set-up. Here are a few photos comparing shots taken using a focus rail and a T3I with microscope objectives attached to photos taken through my Nikon SMZ-U. The images have been stacked from a composite of about 50 photos each. For the camera/objective shots...

Re: Cover for microscopes

I just asked her to make me some covers for my inverteds. I will speak to her about making covers for members. She would have to find the nylon material.

Any preference on colors? Leave it to her and you'll get the brightest she can find.

I prefer blue or gray.

Re: Cover for microscopes

I do as well. However, I have a lot of animal hair in my lab given the number of cats etc. that come and go. So until I get better covers these will work. They can "breathe" as they are not open at the bottom and you can always add small holes.

This is the economical approach.

Re: First post, first image...

You may have to reverse the process by starting with the camera then finishing with the eyepiece if that makes sense. If you cant get the camera in focus.

Re: First post, first image...

Hmmm.. okay load the software onto your laptop or desktop. Once you have done that if not already boot up the program. You should see the image of the specimen on your screen. Once you have an image you should look through the eyepiece w/o the camera and focus the image. Then go to the software and ...

Given you are into photography I would buy an eyepiece adapter and use your current DSLR. It will most likely interface with the software as well.

Re: First post, first image...

Bad news- Those cameras are not very good. But even so you should get a decent picture from it. Did you use the software on your computer to focus the eyepiece tube containing the camera before the photo? What does the leg look like without the goosenecks? Trying to get a feel for the quality of the...

Cover for microscopes

Ok. I just purchased a box of new ZIPloc bags XL. They sell for $6.95 for 4 bags. They are perfect for inverted scopes. Maybe a little large for regular compound but they have smaller sizes. http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt43/balaormiga/IMG_9556.jpg http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt43/balao...

Re: First post, first image...

Could be any of a number of issues.

Is this a trinoc scope?

Was the camera parfocal with the eyepieces?

Just a few questions ..pretty soon everyone will be jumping in..LOL

The lighting does not look right either. What model scope are you using?

Re: Finally Acquired a Nikon SMZ-U

Here are some photos of the SMZ-U mounted on a regular Amscope stand next to a B&L SZ7. Though separated by about 3 decades they are both beautiful scopes. The Nikon performs better in terms of brightness of the image and contrast but the SZ7 is still an incredible scope given the time differential....

Re: Bausch & Lomb Stereozoom 7 R -stand and Nikon SMZ-U

Here are photos showing the change in technology across about 3 decades. The Nikon SMZ-u next to a Bausch & Lomb Stereozoom 7 mounted on an R-stand. Both scopes have their optional trinocular/camera set-ups. The Nikon AFX unit has been gutted to allow for the use of a modern DSLR utilizing an adapte...

Yes that is true! Basically the focusing assembly of a balplan without the fine focus. Nevertheless better focus than the regular stereoscope focus racks.

Using a camera mounted to a microscope focusing rack assembly

Well. A lot of the guys on the photomacrography websites use set-ups that incorporate a focusng rack and camera. Something that has intrigued me. So I came across a set-up on E-bay. I made an offer and he accepted it..surprisingly given it is part of a set-up costing thousands of dollars. Once I get...

Bausch & Lomb Stereozoom 7 R -stand

I have an R-stand for sale if interested PM me. In case you are not familiar it was a relatively rare stand which allows you to focus with increased precision and was actually used to view microscope slides typically used only on compound scopes. If you gogle it you wont find much if anything. I can...

Re: trinocular head question

The controversy over 160 vs 170 TL was settled by Leitz when they shifted to 160 TL and stopped manufacturing objectives etc. for 170 TL. I have attached the memo sent out by Leitz discussing the change and its affect. Actually little to none. It also discusses the use of different eyepieces with 16...
