Re: Cross section of aneedle of Picea spec.
Rod,
it is also named "Etzold FCA" and is a mixture of Fuchsin, Chrysoidin and Alcianblau (sorry but I don`t know in English).
It is usable for all plant sections and gives nice results.

Rod,
I find this image much more better than 1st one.
One tipp: you have decided to cut pine needles - those are very hard to do, you need a lot of experience and exercise - try for the beginning to cut plants which are to cut more easy.

Re: Cross section of aneedle of Picea spec.
Hello Rod, thank you for your nice comment. Most important is to try again and again, also my first attempts were really disatisfying. Most of my equipment is homemade (microtome, razorblade holder). To achieve this image I did several dozens of sections, only a few of them were thin enough (ca. 50m...

Cross section of aneedle of Picea spec.
Dear all, motivated by the section of a pine needle shown by Rod (rnabholz) I tried today the same. Believe me - its a real challenge. The section was stained with Wacker FCA. In picture 2 I try to explain the details, unfortunately only in German (my English is too poor  ) Any comments are we...

Vaselle, I like your pictures, image 3 and 4 are my personal favourites.
Only one comment: I think, your images would be a little bit better if you would try to have a homogeneous background.
No critic, but an attempt to improve ...

Re: Nettle cross cut
For the first attempt it looks very good, there are many details, I suppose the thickness of the section might be very thin.
Did you stain?
As you know, I`m also using a homemade "microtome", can you upload some images showing yours?
