Wet blood samples can be less than exciting. Look up how to do a smear and stain, then you can see some interesting things.

Good to see you here Gary! That scope seems to have a lot in common with my two big LOMO scopes. I hope it makes the journey from Italy quickly and safely!

I seem to remember that Yahoo Groups transitioned a while back to some sort of Google platform. It was supposed to be transparent to the user, but maybe something went amiss?

I would keep it also, you will use it more than you think you would. I have two LOMO heads with the built in mag changers and they do come in very handy. Wish I had a similar one for my BH2.

You have to have a certain minimum number of posts before you can send a PM. I don't remember what the magic number is.

Whether you have achieved "proper" phase or not, it is visually pleasing and shows a lot of detail. Credit goes for obtaining good results with what you had on hand.

Re: Permanently mount a Slide
To make a permanent blood slide you must first learn to make a proper blood smear and then to stain it correctly. Otherwise there is no point. It isn't difficult, but it does take practice and careful work.

Re: American Optical head fits Zeiss?
For a finite TL system I would suggest a LOMO viewing head as a likely match for a Zeiss scope. They are readily available, pretty cheap, and generally good quality. I have no idea about the Infinity systems though. You might get lucky, you might not. American Science and Surplus has or had a few In...

These types of plugs were common on all sorts of equipment for many years. I can't for the life of me think of what they are called, but it will come to me sooner or later. Seems like I have seen them in parts catalogs as recently as 5 or 6 years ago.
