Some living diatoms I
Not too much activity in my sample that I took from a dewatering channel, but diatoms are always nice to observe.... https://up.picr.de/37969452vs.jpg https://up.picr.de/37969453jr.jpg https://up.picr.de/37969454rt.jpg https://up.picr.de/37969455sm.jpg https://up.picr.de/37969456dv.jpg https://up.pi...

Re: 23.2 vs 30mm
Speaking of FOV I replaced my Leitz 1x objective turret with the 0.8x, combined with the Fluotar objectives and the 30MM 10x/26 eyepieces, the FOV is incredible. There is a point where it is probably overkill as I find my eyes wandering around-LOL. Some may find this interesting in context of the F...

Re: Olympus BX60F
Hi Zero,
the adaption of a DSLR to your BX60F can be done rather cheap: just a tube without any optics:
viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5930&start=60#p73297.
The intermediate image of the microscope fits the size of DSLR with APS-C sensor size.

BX: If you change the objective you need to turn the condensor wheel on step further for the correct match of the DIC prism in the condensor. Since the condensor wheel-turret turns easily and smootly, I have not an issue with that.

Re: Does anybody know this vintage Zeiss?
Hi,
like Bob stated, delamination damage for the PlanApo 100/1,3 is extremely common. Difficult to argue on later price discounts for complete sets that are sold as not tested. And without any light source you cannot even blame the seller, since the microscope was not in working condition.

Zeiss IM35 - Adapter for Petri dishes
There are various different table inserts available for the vertical Zeiss IM35. Recently I had the chance to get another table insert, it is another variant of a holder for petri-dishes, the Zeiss item number is 47 17 38. The holder is adjustable, the claws of the holder allows the use of different...

I am a big supporter for the Zeiss Inverted IM35 series ... they are research grade instruments and can be equipped with components from the Zeiss Standard series and there is really a big second hand market. I would already have bought the below scope ... but it gets too much if you add transportat...

Re: My Zeiss Microscopes
Hi 75RR, you are right, the tube is not commerically availble, but there is a guy in the Austrian micro forum who fabricates such tubes. Anyway it is not rocket-science, one side connects to the tube head an the other side has the thread for the T2 adapter for Canon bajonet. The phototube itself is ...

Maybe you need to try one of the older Zeiss Objectives with n.A. of incredible 1.6:
PlanApo 100/1,6 Imm or the 74/1,6

Re: My Zeiss Microscopes
Hi Hobbyst46, definitely the Zeiss Standard still performes very well, respectively if equipped with Planapos - and yes it will cost only a fraction of the invinite systems. From my experience I do not think that the SKPL 10x/20 makes a much better performance compared to a KPL 10x/20. So it is a ni...

Re: A small comparison between two Zeiss turret phase contrast condensers
What i recognized in an instant when mounting the 0,9 condenser: The image of the field aperture is so colourful and unsharp that it is difficult to set Köhler illumination at high magnifications. This is unconvenient but the question is what does it do to the optical performance once set up proper...

Hi 75RR, do not get me wrong - I like your photos very much and I do not really care about some noise in the photos. But if you want to remove I thought it may be a good tip. Actually I do not use Photoshop anymore since I tried the DENOISE software. It allows a kind of automatisation, so several st...

Thanks for the info 75RR.
I often use water instead of oil for the condensor front lense, just because of ease of cleaning. Works quite well till something like n.A. 1.2 or bit more.

Re: euglenozoa
Very nice catches 75RR. How did you manage the oil immersion? There seems to be quite a thick liquid layer under the coverglas and this usually causes issues for such high n.a. objectives (low working distance) and oil immersion (movement or "pumping" of the coverglas due to re-focusing)? .
