Re: Nikon SMZ-2T camera connection
Sorry I'd missed a few posts. Thanks for the info. That Olympus looks pretty good. I have a Canon 700D/t5i "spare" but I was thinking of something smaller, like this: digicam.jpg But the Oly has advantages. There have been some cheap ones on ebay. Those are quite popular, Chris, but the sensor is v...

Try to resist and hold out for a nice Wild. This may not be a long term strategy as eventually you will find one.

Re: Nikon SMZ-2T camera connection
Here is a decimated jpeg of an image "directly" projected onto the sensor of an Olympus E-PL1: pcb.jpg It was made with: a 144-LED ring light a Wild M7S in monocular mode a Motic 1500.3 photo bridge a 1X, lens-less Leitz 38mm ISO to C-mount adapter, and a C-mount to micro four thirds thread adapter....

Re: Nikon SMZ-2T camera connection
... An MFT body would cost more than the scope did, I'd prefer to try something cheaper. I have much better optics for quality macro photography; so this is just for convenience.... I bought a 12 megapixel, Olympus E-PL1 off ebay.de for 45 euros ($54) including shipping (with a 6600 shutter count, ...

Re: Using Motic K700 accessories on Leica MZ6 specifically Stereo Microscope Drawing Device
...I've got a black phototube that I thought was a Leica but guess it may be a Wild, it works on the Wild MZ8 and Leica MZ6 so as expected they are compatible (unless you are worried about the aesthetics on your desk).... Could you post a picture? I may recognize it. If the photo tube is unmarked, ...

You can add the M7A/M7S to the list. The M5's are the different ones.Scarodactyl wrote:I think the M series has maintained partial compatibility since the M3 (not sure about the M4 or the M7a, but certainly the M3, M8 and M10)....

Re: Some Wild stereo microscope numerical aperture measurements
Given the pattern, I would posit 0.07 ~ 0.075 for the 1X, 87mm working distance objective.

Some Wild stereo microscope numerical aperture measurements
Northern Europe has been enjoying some fair springtime weather these last couple days, so naturally a (not really so) young man's fancy turns to — measuring the numerical aperture of his microscopes! He has been patiently waiting for a cloud free day. The microscopes' lower, objective / magnificatio...

Re: Wild M8
... Wild stereoscopes were and still are incredible scopes, but the market pricing often puts them above scopes that are superior in terms of optical performance. I would agree with that assessment and add that it was arguably true even in Wild's heyday. My father was quite impressed by the Wild M5...

Re: Inexpensive USB 2.0 camera test
... [The] short adapter goes into the eyepiece tube: There is an O-ring ... [that] is supposed to provide friction so as to stabilize the camera at a certain height. It is not a good idea, though: On my scope, friction is very high so I had to apply great force to push the adapter inside.... I had ...

Re: Wild M8
My apologies for bumping an old thread. It appears that zzffn did not get his questions answered, and that I need to post a bit before I can send a PM. I hope no one minds. ... I viewed through a lower end Wild before, probably a M1a or M3, and saw perspective (central dome) distortion that is NOT c...
