Some more samples from the haematococcus culture
http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag425/rocketcaver/0019x_zps1e6ca11d.jpg This culture bottle is growing a nice variety of creatures. I would never have known the blob on the right was a rotifer if I hadn't seen the mastax working. http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag425/rocketcaver/0023x_zps82...

Re: A couple more human blood photos.
Thank you!
And, as expected, the clear nail polish is not suitable, as it caused much of the stain to migrate to the edges of the cover slip. It was quite interesting to watch.
Also, the glycerin is having a similar effect, though not as pronounced and in much slower motion.

Re: A couple more human blood photos.
For visual work I just use the slide dry with no cover glass, I can see what I want to see fine that way. But for photographs, that results in too many diffraction artifacts, especially with these Acromat objectives. One of these days I'll find some Apos, and we will see how much difference that mak...

Re: A couple more human blood photos.
Thanks Gekko. You are probably right about opening up the aperture, that is difficult for me to judge.
I think I have finally gotten the hang of this stain. It has taken a lot of trial and error, but it finally looks pretty much the way it should.

Bonus! Yes, just carefully snap them apart. The pc board is scored or perforated, so it should break evenly.

Re: Beginner camera advice please!
I have both AmScope cameras, the 3mp at home and the 5mp at work. I see little difference in the image quality, but like the software than comes with the 5mp camera better than what comes with the 3mp camera. And they are not interchangeable. If I had it to do again I would buy the 5mp camera for ho...

Re: My new microscope... almost
This scope has a lot in common with some that I see that were set up as polarizing scopes. The rotating stage is a big clue of course. Also, the assembly under the condenser is mentioned on the LOMO America site as containing a glass polarizing element, at least on the polarizing scope being detaile...

I don't have any manuals for this scope yet, I do have a few emails out to folks who might be able to come up with something.
It does look kind of big sitting in that chair, doesn't it? I hope it is as impressive in person.

My new microscope... almost
These are some of the photos from Ebay of my "new" microscope. It won't arrive here for another 2 or 3 weeks, but I thought I would go ahead and show it. It is another Russian made LOMO microscope, a model not common in the USA. You will note that it has a built in Koehler illuminator, and coaxial f...
