Hi guys
Just bought this stereo microscope which comes with a 0.5x c-mount (male thread) fitting on the trinoc tube and wondering what extra adaptors I would need to connect my Nikon d5500 dslr to it?. Any ideas please?.
Thanks

Yes I’ve seen that camera advertised a few times John and did think they were a little shall we say optimistic about the claim of 48meg on the sensor!. You happy with this camera?

Hdmi imaging anyone?
Hi guys Looking around for a new camera for imaging I did wonder if any one has experience of imaging using hdmi type cameras and if they can give high def screen shots comparable to usb connected ones?. Reading up on a few in particular the Hayear 4K range they have some nice specs. I don’t envisag...

Rotating stage for Laborlux S
Hi guys Been imaging crystals lately and they are not always in the right postion on the slide so came up with this for my Laborlux S scope. Attaches to the x axis slider. Trying it both with the conveyor bearings and without, prefer without I think. Its turned gently by thumb and the slide pushed o...

What a lovely scope John, pity you thinking of selling (not for the buyer of course) I'd be grateful if you could pm me what you'd like for it please.

Thinking of adding a stereo to the arsenal !
Hi guys For a while now I have been a very happy user of an excellent Leitz Laborlux S scope I acquired off eBay I gather from a company who buys job lots from firms/schools etc who no longer need them. I’ve been using it for Crystal art imaging among other things and now feeling the need to add a s...

Re: First try at Fluorescence!
Yes thanks for that I did wonder about a focus lens. I was careful in designing the holder so all three leds should point to the same spot , will see how that works out

Hi guys Very much a ‘101 in Fluorescence microscopy’ ;-). 3d printed this little holder which will have 3 bright blue led`s (only 1 at the moment) . Re: microspectrophotometry
You might be wondering what the little guide ccd at the side is doing?.
It’s to show where to place the 23micron slit on the slide for entry to the spectroscope. The same use with a telescope placing a star on the slit!.

Re: microspectrophotometry
Steve I’ve been adapting my Astro spectro gear for use with my Leica trinocular scope. Its an Alpy 600 used for the visual part of the spectrum but not as far as UV. This is a mono Atik 314l cooled ccd but could easily be replaced with a DSLR!. 248057FE-460F-4530-80C8-8D885E707F5D.jpeg Taking an imag...

Re: First try adapting astro gear for microscopy!
Yes thanks although I'm not too sure cooling the ccd would help with microscopy as these exposures were Red 0.01secs, Green 0.01 secs , Blue 0.008 secs and I cant see noise being a problem with these exposure times. Onwards and upwards as they say

First try adapting astro gear for microscopy!
Hi guys I stopped doing astronomy a while ago and still have all my gear and thought about combining it with my microscopy. I have a little toupcam which I like using but it never quite gives the resolution I wanted, neither did my Nikon D5500 dslr so the thought of using my 16bit cooled Atik ccd ca...

Re: Cooled ccd for microscopy?
Also does your camera do high speed video? Bob No it doesn't Bob they are mainly for imaging very faint objects doing long exposures (up to an hour) the ability to cool is to make the ccd more sensitive and reduce electronic noise from the chip.I can maybe see the use with microscopy such as fluore...

Re: Amateur Microscopy vs Astronomy
Very interesting question and speaking as someone who does (or rather did) both astronomy and microscopy. I was quite an active amateur astronomer with my own computerised observatory, apo scopes , ccd’s, spectroscopes the lot but become very disillusioned with the constant battle with the weather we...

Cooled ccd for microscopy?
Hi guys I used to be quite an active amateur astronomer some time back and have an Atik 314l mono ccd capable of cooling down to -20 degs and I wondered if there is anything to be gained by using it for microscopy?. I did think of trying to devise some device to go on top of my trinocular head to us...

Re: MycoCam5 question please.
Hi John Yes Ive tried Toupview and it is a very good app but for some strange reason I always had a flicker in the liveview which made focusing not an easy task. I tried many different settings and ended up fluctuating between Toupview and S-eye another app for the imaging. Whether it was a driver t...

Hi guys
My trusty Leitz Laborlux S came with 5 Leitz Wetzlar objectives giving x4,x10,x25,x40 and the last one x100 which is labelled Wetlzar 160/0.17, NPL Fluotar 100/1.32 OEL. Would I be correct in thinking it's for use with oil as it doesn't show a great deal of detail without?.
Thanks
Steve
