This is a masrteclass in the botany of a little-studied group of plants. I just wonder how many can appreciate the skill and expertise involved in this study. Awesome!

The large fly seems to be a Chironomid midge, unrelated to the batches of eggs; these look like egg rafts of the mosquito Culex pipiens. There are also a couple of smaller insects, possibly thrips or small beetles.
Don't worry, you won't get Zika virus from the mosquitoes!
