Re: Imaging with different coverglass thickness

To be honest, Andrew ... I had never heard of a #1 chambered coverslip  So, I looked here for the spec. https://www.thermofisher.com/order/catalog/product/155361#/155361 ... and also saw the price I assume, and sincerely hope, that your colleagues know exactly what they are doing. Re: Problems with Omano OM36L

The first issue is flickering of the LED. The microscope has a wheel style brightness control and at medium to high brightness the LED flickers a lot, to the point where it sometimes goes completely dark. I have checked the batteries and they are producing the correct voltage and the flickering occ...

Re: Maybe a way to get the perfect image with a DSLR?

I tried it on both 160mm (finite) and 180mm (infinity) tube length microscopes and surprisingly it was very sharp corner to corner. I don't have 3D printer at home, but I think I can design the tube in a CAD software and use the commercial 3D printing services (it's quite cheap). I have zero experie...

Re: Olympus DP25

Well, if you have a USB 3.0 on your laptop, you can use an adapter like this on to "adapt" the connection, not the connection protocol itself. I cannot guarantee a successful connection, but it's not a money loss I guess. Worth a try. https://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/qualtek/3021019-16/Q370-...

On a more serious note we currently know using an extender is working for Malpi and me... and "just the two of us" is not enough to be sure it can be a solution for most users. So if you can test this on your microscope and let us know what's the results, it will be appreciated. Mate, I tried Canon...

The tube is exactly like the one came with my stereo microscope, but it was to wobbly and I found a reduction lens with the same dovetail mount so I replaced the tube with the reduction lens. https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1uSEXXwsSMeJjSspeq6y77VXat.jpg I saw many other reduction optics (2x and 1.5x ...

Re: Imaging with different coverglass thickness

Hi, My name is Andrew, I'm new to the forum. I have a question about why a lab in my institution is using a #1.0 chambered coverslip for an objective lens that's meant for 0.17 thickness coverslip. I have tried using #1.5 chambered coverslip but the image never focuses. The lab does calcium signali...

Welcome to forum Saby. Nice microscope, you have :)
It's very useful to have a trinocular head on your microscope. It surprise me way before this digital era and the availability of cheap digital cameras, any half decent and above microscope has been equiped with a trinocular head.

Not clear to me if the dome on many of these LEDS is a plus (brightness) or minus (uneven illumination).
If you can, get a LED without the dome assembly. The dome acts like a lens and disturbs the microscope lighting optics arrangement.

Saul,

Can you tell me what a Type 2a power supply is?

I looked on the web and haven’t found a description.

I have been fooling around and ran into Ohm’s law with the current limits and voltage drop in small conductors.

Gerard
He meant 2 amps capable power supply.
