I have a very nice AO 10 for sale that is mentioned somewhere on the group. Maybe that would be a good alternative. It has plan objectives and I know it will outlast any Amscope.

Re: First scope revisited
Sound like a reasonable deal, Dale. Is this your top budget $$$ ? I would look for 20mm eyepieces rather than 18mm that come with this scope and a little better frame/stand. Other than that, if this is your first scope I think you will be satisfied with the optics. If you plan on photographing I thi...

Test post
Here is a test post. This is a photo I took some time ago and don't have any idea of what I used to take it. It is probably cropped, but I don't think there was any additional editing. Whatever I was doing wrong seems to have corrected itself as I have no idea of what I did differently.

Re: Quota issues
I posted this concern a couple of days ago, but I have not posted any photos. I should have a zero balance on my account.
I wonder that there are other issues.

Re: ID help needed. Parasites?
If you are interested in microscopic examination of fecal material, yours or your pets, do some research on "fecal float(ation)". This is a common test done in veterinary clinics that very successfully separates the parasite ova from the rest of the sample. Once the specimen is separated and examine...

Re: Hello, a few questions about the Motic Ba300
Hi all, I have a couple of ideas about the questions. I do agree with gekko and will only add a couple of thoughts. First, will any rms thread, 20mm, infinity corrected objective work? I don't know what the infinity distance for the Motic microscopes is but you can certainly try the objective you ha...

Very nice photo, JimT. Your choice of colors creates an interesting effect. I was wondering what stem iodine was, but finally figured it out

Re: Amscope semi-plan lens help
Hello group, There is a current thread where I shared my opinion of the scopes regarding their relative quality. This scope would go at the bottom of that list for a variety of reasons. First, regarding your specific question, I would follow what the specs indicate and if they say achromat, which th...

Re: Help me pick new guy
Hello, again. I did some research regarding the OPTIKA B-380 microscope and found out I know more than I know. This model, while not a bad instrument, is toward the bottom of the list when with the others mentioned. It is a product of China, like everything else, just produced for an Italian company...

Re: Help me pick new guy
I've had experience with all except the OPTIKA B-380 and have listed them in the order that I recommend. The Nikon, Olympus, and Zeiss are upgradeable to a degree but are all entry level instruments for the respective companies. The Accu-Scope and Motic models are a couple of the more versatile scop...
