Re: I’m a amateur and trying to look for food poisoning germs.
For E. coli , methylene blue isn't very useful. You will need a Gram staining kit. This consists of a series of two dyes. Gram stain kits should be easily available. The Gram stain will allow you to stain the bacterial cell wall differentially depending on the species of the bacterium. Some cells ta...

Ok, Another unsolvable problem on the Universal. I have two epi-illumination objective holders. One fits perfectly in a functional orientation, I.e., the illuminator port faces the rear (where the light enters). The second fits with the reflector port facing the rear. No way for the light to get in!...

Thanks all for the help and suggestions. I tried it on a GFL stand as suggested (and as shown in the photos) and it seems to fit fine. It probably was designed for the GFL stand. I have heard of people inserting a machined part into the Standard WL or Universal stand to make it work. It needs about ...

Re: Setting up AO20: help reqd with Koehler
I was just struggling with a very similar situation yesterday on my Zeiss Standard. I purchased a POL condenser on Ebay. After putting it on, I could not focus on the leaves when adjusting for Koehler. I tried another condenser, and it still wouldn't work. Tried everything I could think of. Finally ...

for sale camera adapter
For sale or trade. I just discovered this in a box of old things from many decades ago. The first is an Olympus camera adapter with its relay lens. My wife bought this for me new when I was in graduate school in 1985. It seemed like it was a lot of money back then, but we were really poor. I had an ...

Welcome to the Forum, At least some the Euromex line is the same as MeijiTechno. I know this is true for the stereomicroscopes; I don't know about the compound microscopes. I just received a thick Euromex catalogue at work, and I'm looking forward to perusing the pages. I've been using a MeijiTechno...

I purchased the oculars on Ebay. They are listed as "Pair of WF10X 18mm Widefield Eyepiece for Biological Microscopes 23.2mm" from a seller named "outdoor2015" in China. I have made several purchases from this seller in the past. These oculars are a very economical replacement for the Zeiss microsco...

Selling my Zeiss junior microscope. I nice little entry-level microscope. The stand and stage are in good shape. I have place a new set of Chinese objectives as well as a new set of Chinese oculars. I am trying to attach a Fedorov stage on a Zeiss WL stand. Seem like it should be easy. Everything fits mechanically, but not all at the same time. I'm about an inch short of everything fitting, by the time I add the objective and condenser. Question: Is there supposed to be a spacer between the bas...

Re: Zeiss Standard WL digital camera?
OK, I removed the iris mechanism from the large Zeiss adapter as suggested by Charles. Now I have a big hole where the M35 camera was attached. I'll need some sort of big adapter ring to fit in it. Is this something you buy? or something you make? Also there were some other little bits in the light ...

23 mm sounds like the standard size oculars. There are different kinds, but I would just see what you can find and try it out. I've recently purchased a set of the cheap Chinese 10x oculars on EBay. They are OK; good enough to get started. Like was previously mentioned, you'll need a phase contrast ...

Zeiss made different drawing tubes for each model of microscope. I originally purchased this one thinking it was for the Standard. Some tips on direct observation through human skin with a standard microscope. From the American Journal of Physiology (1912). The entire article is available online and gives a lot more details on viewing blood vessels in intact skin, for the purposing of diagnosing various diseases. Interesting. "...
