How did you get different flavors(colors) of paramecium? All I have every seen are transparent and grayish.

I'm assuming you're referring to aperture which would vary the DOF?

I suppose it does, to a degree, but the opinion here is that the objectives control the DOF, higher power objectives, have less, lower power have more. The diaphragm at the condenser controls the contrast.

Well if it's like my Amscope T400b, it has a knob that you pull across to block the Eyepiece ports an also opens the imaging tube.
In my case, I can use one or the other but not both at the same time.

Apoch, I'm not going to purchase immediately, but I am glad you've cleared that up for me. I have sent a question to the seller. asking if it was DIN. If it's shorter and will cause problems, I can do without it for now.

You can get one for as little as $20 brand new from Amazon and these have a gurantee. Of course a window sill is cheaper yet and you'd have to be mighty impatient not to wait 15 minutes!

I open up the diaphragm and use the 100x dry sometimes. Uther than that I don't use it much because it rests so close to the specimen.
