I am not sure, brightfield pn mine works great with a fiber optic light guide adapted on but darkfield does not. Simple solution: get the DIC attachment :mrgreen: I have DIC attachments. Balplan Epi
So I don't know what to think of the DF with this Balplan Epi. How should the light source be lensed when shooting down into the epi?
On the left is an LED top and laser line bottom for brightfield.

Those are the flat field phase objectives. Later, they came out with planachromat versions that look like their non-phase counterparts. The only outside difference is the marking "PHASE." Balplan Phase Contrast
Does anyone have better pictures or details on the objectives for a Balplan's phase contrast? I have tried to use the CSI image enhancer as seen on TV, yet for some reason I cannot read the text on these objectives. It's almost like that enhance thing is fake or something -- hmm. In testing this crate; the corners, the double corrugated cardboard sides, and the lid are rather strong. So putting some vertical triangular columns inside around the edges makes it even stronger to deal with a shipper stacking something on top. Worst case is a heavy pressure right in the center. M...

Need to check what focal length's are possible. For example, can an objective be reduced to this grain of sand size? Has anyone played with the holographic lenses from Edmund Optics? Basically if you're fine with polarized light only, a holographic print can be used to lens light.

For this to work, a ring with a set screw would wrap the epi’s male connector. Then that assembly would drop down into the microscope frame. But if the set screw is placed above the male MicroStar dovetail, that would raise the epi up leaving a gap. So a plate could be done as shown to fill that gap...

I am speculating here, but it looks like it could be. It looks like you could do an adapter that is basically a tube. I didn't model the top inset anchor-points/bearing-pads. And in this image showing a cross section, it would be way shorter. Also the angle of the dovetail is just arbitrarily 45 degrees, but Olympus is 60. So that is probably wrong. Bu...

The vertical illuminator that I plan on adapting is from the Laborlux (160/170mm) the clamp mechanism as well as the diameter of the insertion for the head is a lot wider on the Reichert, and so it would need an insert to fill the gap as well as to hold it in place,.
