Holy necroposting Batman!
It looks like the OP removed her posts from the thread making it rather confusing.
Let's not start up the LBA bit again.

Re: Affordable hot plate with PID regulator
Looks like a good purchase. Those PID devices are great. I used a cheap PID from Amazon (about $40 USD) to replace the trashed controls on an industrial oven we bought at scrap value at work, it works great, after warm-up it holds the oven temp to within 1°F. Used another one to build another oven, ...

Re: Just arrived in the mail from Russia
I have been unable to sleep well since I saw a 7 objective nosepiece on ebay ;) 7 position turret?! That sure would be great, assuming that it doesn't come with it's own set of hidden issues. 4 is so limiting, though one does get accustomed to it eventually. The BH-2 has a 5 position turret, it mak...

Re: Just arrived in the mail from Russia
Yes, both photos were taken just moments apart and on the same area of the table, you can see the same knot in the wood in both photos. I guess the colour balance was affected by the variation in the different surfaces of the turret... white v/s chrome. Funny, I didn't even notice that until you men...

By the way, that last image looks like our old friend Haematococcus pluvialis. They seem to thrive in birdbaths.

Edit: I think you edited your post 'for clarity' whilst I was writing that ^^^ ... I thought you had mentioned 'conjugate distance' ... was I dreaming ? I did, sorry. Originally I rattled on a bit about what I *thought* it meant, then edited that out and changed the topic. Looks like I was on the r...

185 or 195 listed in finite objective specs?
This might be a dumb question but... The recent discussion of cheap Chinese objectives has me browsing the offerings again (my grandma always said that I was a glutton for punishment). I notice that in addition to the usual information, some of the specs include the number "185" and some "195", whil...

Thanks John, I had wondered if it dimmed all the way down to zero or suddenly went out at some point, that seems typical as you said.

Re: Unbranded NEW 4X Planachromate objective on Olympus BH2 microscope
The bargain 4x looks very usable in the BH2.
I still need a 60x for my BH2, have resisted these bargain priced objectives since my disappointment with an Amscope 20x a couple of years ago. I'll be watching both Hobbyst46's and John's continuing adventures closely.
