Not that I'm likely to be using fluorites or apos anytime soon but if you do a comparison let us know.

Re: Photobucket

I've been going stitch crazy.
I have an x100 image of my first section: daffodil ovary.
Its a 12000, 15000 monster.
I'd like to get it public somehow so forum members can look and I have a few freinds who might like.
Ho Hum.

Really nice images.
I love my arthropods. They are all really nice images but I'll stick my neck out and go for the transmitted light one (I assume the last one is lit that way). The close image of head and glow effect is fab.

Yes. I am trying to upload some very large images. One is 120MB other was 190MB.
Both froze at 90%.
Have I missed a maximum photo size?

Re: Greetings from Surrey. UK

Hi, I from Cambridge and have managed to climb up the learning curve to make some sections. I did have some luck though in picking up a nice microtome. I would advise the carrot and the hand microtome but also http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/indexmag.html?http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/wd-a...

Video and sound and Free Music Archive, copyright and attribution

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but I am unsure of the status of using music that one can get from creative commons places such http://freemusicarchive.org/curator/video In this place music is available for various purposes most often non-comercial use. The site does, however have a attri...

Arachnoiddiscus sendaicus: stitching and stacking progress

Hello all, I've been working on my stitching and stacking combos since the stitching thread I started a while back. I've retaken a photo of Arachnoidiscus sendaicus (well I think this is the species, I identified it via http://www.microscopy-uk.eu/diatomist/Arachnoidiscus.pdf - yes Klaus probably di...

Re: Have damaged my x40 objective? Advice from sages welcome. The plot thickens....

Thanks gekko. The problem is, I believe, that they changed the yoke as well as the condenser. Or at least the system that held the previous condenser as they had no darkfield condensors that fit the yoke that the microscope had before. So they changed this as well as the condenser. So both my conden...

Nice tip Culicoides on the slide dryer/plant propegator.
I will google and ebay first / possibly investigate slow boat from china... but this sounds like a fine slide dryer.

Re: Have damaged my x40 objective? Advice from sages welcome. The plot thickens....

Many thanks again. It is very heart warming to be part of such a helpful community. I tried doing a huge blob of oil, but the gap was just to big. I'm afraid I have a similar feeling that John's trepidation about Brunel in this sort of matter . My basic take on this is that they are overworked, espe...

Re: Have damaged my x40 objective? Advice from sages welcome. The plot thickens....

Many thanks Lorez. I'm learning lots today. Names of bits of the microscope and what that condenser stop is for. Cool. However the problem isn't that I can't move the condenser to a few mm below the stage ( I can). The problem is that when I Kohler my condenser it is 6-7mm below the slide. Now I rea...
