From the morning's hunt, I did this until I started getting slide hypnosis again. Most of them are not the greatest shots, but I took what I got. Some are pretty nice, No. 19 is a very good one. Another quite new to me thing turned up on the water bear hunt, it has a seeming hard shell, material inside that and there is no movement. I can't even guess what this is. Anyone else seen one?

I found this during my morning water bear hunt, and it appears to have a head on the right end, and there is a clopada swimming around inside it trying to get out, but I don't think that's going to happen. I think this thing gnoshed down on that clopada and might be looking for more. I've never seen...

Impressive water bear hunting. And great images. Well I thank you for that, but they were not all great images. They were just what I found today. I might yet go back at it. Fortunately I seem to live in water bear central, and all the images I have yet posted came from the lichen on just one tree....

Okay, after almost 12 hours of water bear hunting I'm taking a break. I'm starting to get slide hypnosis here. Time for a drink.

I was really surprised to see this, the shed cuticle of a water bear with 8 eggs in it! I had no idea they could have that many inside them. How was there room for anything else?

Some people think the internet is for cats. I, on the other hand, believe it is for water bears. Keep posting your images -- Even though this isn't stacked it is still a very good image. And just wait until Spring when I too shall overwhelm for forums with awesome photos of water bears! Muahahaaaaa...

Halteria normally has a girdle of stiff "jumping bristles" around its middle, which give it a distinctive style of movement (they can hop so quickly they appear to be teleporting). Here is another one I found today, but much much smaller, so they can get really big, and I'm not sure how they do that.

Let me know when you get tired of seeing water bears, okay? I could not get a stack of it because it was being heavily buffeted by clopada and other ciliates.

I've come across a dozen such images today, of what looks like Halteria or something close to it attached to a large bubble, and perhaps getting ready to reproduce. I'm not sure. I don't know, maybe an egg? It has lots of fibers/cilia? coming out off it, and some internal structures at different focuses. This is a stack of 4 images. It was not moving. Could those be mouth parts on the left of it?
