That is really sweet Kurt! We need a family portrait.
I envy you. Somewhere I read of someone buying nice used scopes in that price range and giving them to his grandkids. Seems an excellent idea rather than giving plastic junk.
Congratulations

You might find you have to read all his articles they're outstanding. Dave http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/indexmag.html?http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/wd-articles.html I couldn't agree with you more Dave! His article on formalin/formaldehyde made that mystery clearer. I was shocked at how...

It now has a removable turret and though it is not immediately apparent, a 5 objective nosepiece.

So ... got 'em all working now? (I may be getting something very similar soon, so this thread suddenly became pretty interesting...) I ended up with one working. The other two went back. I am glad if this thread can help anyone else. The only reason I have the one working is because of the help fro...

The real obj's holders are ridiculously expensive, you would think their would be a zillion of them around. Dale. Re: Monocular vs Binocular/Trinocular imaging question
If you imaged through a monocular scope, wouldn't you get a higher percentage of light (100%) over a trinocular tube or even one ocular of a binocular scope (w/o trinoc) that would be 50%, or is the convenience of a trinoc worth the trade? Also good for share viewing, right? Although Oliver answere...

Re: Zeiss Standard gets a new home
At the moment we are trying to center the filament directly under the objective. Once that is done the next step is to use a slide to focus the filament at the Front Focal Plane. Moving on to that step, I find that I can only see the field diaphragm shadow distinctly when the condenser is racked to...

Re: Zeiss Standard gets a new home
The reason the filament moves in an ellipse as you rotate it rather than around its own axis is because it is not centered. I was hoping I would finally make my dilemma clear. I was also hoping it was an easy fix. I feared bent stuff. Thanks Glen. Now I should be able to get that Kohler thing down!...

This is my microscope with the condenser removed and a tracing paper placed over the stage. Notice how the filament is centered on the objective. You got me to revisit the illuminator setup Glen. I forgot that I got stuck and never finished that. I would take a pair of eyepieces. If you can't get it to power, because of no cord, two alligator clips to a computer cord will do it. If there is still no light, the halogen bulb is in a push in from the rear, to look for a bad bulb. If you can get it to power, the ocular tubes should have the sam...
