Bausch and Lomb StereoZoom 3

This is a Bausch and Lomb StereoZoom 3. No oculars included.
The aluminum alignment ring inside is cracked so it has double vision. The right and left eye images cannot be merged.
Might be good for parts, or for one-eyed microscopists.

One dollar plus actual shipping cost.

Stereomicroscope stand

I had a photomicrography stand, just taking up space in the closet. I needed an extended range stereomicroscope stand, and this seemed to work out fine. When I cut the tube, there was paper inside. It was an empty cigarette package from Germany. An old style, looked like from the 1960s. Maybe someon...

Re: What is this Microscope part?

Well, that explains the pancratic condenser somewhat. Thanks.

Doesn't look anything like what would mount on this rectangular part... Maybe it's some sort of filter carrier???

What is this Microscope part?

Dear Forum, I am working on my Zeiss Universal UEM, and I'm down to the substage base... What is this dovetailed attachment over the field diaphragm? I've looked at Google photos of other people's UEM microscopes, and they don't have it... My first guess is that it is a mount for a pancratic condens...

Michael,
Probably no one has ever had one of these open before. Difficult to guess what might be wrong. My guess is something has come loose or fallen off. Be sure to post if you figure it out.

Re: Zeiss Universal project

The entire focusing block can be replaced. The prices on Ebay are usually too high, but you can get a reasonable one if you are patient, make some offers. Might be worth $100 or a little less. Perhaps this is easier than making new gears, depending on your gearmaking skills. It's the same focusing b...

Zeiss Microscope for new users

I know it's difficult for beginners to get a good starter microscope... In the process of setting up my lab, I've accumulated enough Zeiss parts to fill several shelves. I have enough parts to put together 3 or 4 Zeiss Standard microscopes for beginners. Building on a Zeiss Standard stand, I can sem...

Re: Zeiss Universal for Transmitted and Incident light microscopy

I have a Universal, and there are nosepieces for a single objective as well as turrets for many objectives. It is very easy to switch out nosepieces and condensers when you want to change modes. Minutes or less. It's a popular microscope, and parts come up all the time. Not hard to find most of the ...

Re: Polarized light and retardation plates doubt

OK, I don't know the answer, but at least one of my Zeiss condensers has a slot for a retardation plate. I have never actually tried to use it. Maybe I will experiment with it. I think image quality would be the same, as long as the plate is not coincident with the specimen conjugate plane. I'm inte...

Re: Microscope -Avian Disease's

Well, I like pigeons, I like microscopes, and I like bacteria... But there are problems with this plan. Bacteria are very small, even for a microscope. They are at the limit of resolution for a light microscope. You will be able to determine the basic shape of the bacteria, but that's about all. The...

Re: thinking out loud here - moral thoughts

No matter how kind you are to microbes, they will not reciprocate. They will still be happy to infect your brain or liver. If you decide to re-introduce them to the environment, they will be killed or eaten. In labs that I have worked in, there have been policies prohibiting release of microorganism...

OK, I use an ancient set of bellows also. Mine are Ihagee from Germany. I have the Ihagee/M42 adapter as well as the M42/RMS. Everything fits fine. I use the Zeiss Luminar objectives. They have an adjustable diaphragm; I believe they were designed for applications such as this. Here's a picture of t...

Yes, that slot is for the retardation plates. And the PH position for the optovar is the Bertrand lens. And, whatever you do, don't remove the optovar from the head by taking out the three covering screws and three alignment screws. It will never go back to its original position (from my personal ex...

Rot 1 plate adapter for Zeiss

I have two sizes of sliders for the Zeiss microscopes. The smaller ones fit in the Standard and the larger fit in the Universal.
I was home today with a cold, so I decided to make an adapter.
Took way too much time- still needs a pin on the bottom so it doesn't go in too far, but not tonight...

I'm not sure how they are making the cuvettes. It's costing more than a few hundred dollars each, and we had to order ten of them. It must be quite a process. Please look at he link below.
