My god, Rodney, is that a real grasshopper? I totally misunderstand about the scopes. That camera adapter looks
like the business end of a big Maglight.

Factory bottom illuminator for a Zoom? I have a stereozoom4 but it has only a mirror. I am attaching a light to the mirror to illuminate bugs, but did not know of a factory light. I will have to ship a zoom very soon, other than massive bubblewrap do you have any suggestions? I hesitate to remove th...

...I only today got the annular disc to rotate, so I'm making some slow progress here! Dale Also, in order for the phase condenser turret rotate, you will need to make sure the adjusting wrenches are pulled fully 'out' to disengage them from the annuli. I kept backing them out til that happened. I ...

The Bertrand lens is the problem, without it I have a nearly perfect line of sight. How often
do I have to center them? I only today got the annular disc to rotate, so I'm making
some slow progress here!

I will look for that thread. This problem was compounded by the extra1.5" the Bertrand lens added. My huge computer desk cannot be cut down, and is way too high. My scope is tall, 17", so I'm looking for a desk of the proper height. The ergonomic
recommendations vary wildly, but seeing many of your lab pictures I know you have
tall scopes and would have good opinions.

I did shrink it to half of that. I think the problem is in trying to add it to a PM.
It was worth the hassle, we did identify the part.
This learning curve hurts.
Thanks.

That is it! The condenser has one in place. I will mail this mystery nut back to you.
I did not want to start installing the set with unknown parts. Needless to say I did not
examine the condenser or the nut would have seen the nut.

Piffle, an hour is nothing to help a fellow microscopist. I was surprised to see anybody re-selling microscopes in my
part of the country. Have to keep an eye on them, maybe some bargains in the future.
Enjoy your new glass, it looks nice.

Oh yes. I did just try a dab of NeverDull, and it worked perfectly. No side effects.
The paint is clean and shiny.
The oculars have a 1-2mm ring of scum around their perifery, but that's another challenge.

I don't like it on my old American Optical stereoscope. This is what I intend to try: NeverDull polishing wads MagicEraser Citrus car cleaner Rubbing alcohol Each will be tested gently on a small spot. I am not worried about harming the scope as I intend to keep it. Soap has no effect, and I'll avoi...

Are you looking at the one from Tincanindustries? They are about an hour away from me, and I would be glad to run up and look the scope over. This place is a motorsports store, but you get 2 weeks money back. I am not by any means a qualified microscopist, but I could set it up and feel it out. Dale

Yes. Around $8. I did not save the link when I looked them up as I'm going to see how well the light works. Check the reviews, the dimensions, and all the specs. I do remember one had a metal case. My light is still weeks away so I wont be much help for awhile. Dissipating the heat seemed to be a pr...

Rubber eyeguards for American Optical
Will these aftermarket eyeguards constrict the field of view? The hard ones are nice, but I can see
rubber ones being better.
The sellers list all different sizes. My zoom oculars measure 29.5mm, and the AO10 27.5mm.
Got any?

What would be the best way to restore the finish on older enameled scopes? Corrosion on steel parts.
Frames and stages, etc. These are American Optical. I am not even thinking about repainting, just
intensive non-destructive polishing.
