Mystery Nikon Magnifier

I have a Nikon item which appears to be one of these: https://www.ebay.com/p/3037734298 https://www.ebay.com/itm/275027711597 Unfortunately, I have no idea what it is intended to fit … and strangely, although the lower lens element works as a very nice ‘magnifying glass’ … I haven’t found any settin...

Re: How can I clean a concave lens?

.

In principle, the radius of curvature of your cleaning tool needs to be equal to, or less than, the curvature of the lens surface.
… In practice, this is getting worryingly close to being “a pointy thing” … so the answer is with great care and considerable finesse.

Thanks … I accept all the opinions

My point [badly made] was that there is a “Zeiss” microscope for which cheaper compatible Chinese objectives might be available.

Yes, I realise that … but it doesn’t stop it being a Zeiss product.

It tells you almost nothing … but I thought this very brief video worth sharing, for its glimpse of the manufacturing:

This is relavent to Chinese infinity microscopes only. […] I have not seen a Zeiss knockoff system from China […] That said … am I not right in believing that the affordable range of Zeiss microscopes is made by Motic ?? MichaelG. . Re: Looking for camera for Swift SW380B

@MichaelG: I understand some of what you're saying, but what numbers do I multiply to find out the active area vs the physical chip size? If Sensor size: 8.365mm(H)x6.615mm (V), what do I need to look at to compute active area? I'm a bit lost here... But thank you for your feedback! I'm learning a ...

Re: Looking for camera for Swift SW380B

I have no personal experience of the HAYEAR cameras, but that specification is remarkable both for its resolution and frame-rate. … both very impressive. One thing I would mention though is the chip size Do the maths and you will see that the active area is significantly smaller than the physical si...

I was rather surprised to find this “admission” by Leitz, and would welcome comments from the wise:
… perhaps the original German expresses it a little differently [?]

Re: Dichromatic Illumination?

The subject gets a bit heavy, Gerry … but this is a good introduction:

The visual perception of a particular colour does not necessarily mean that colour’s actual wavelength is present.
