Re: Variety of microbes?

My experience is limited but that is what I have seen.

Also like fish, different creatures seem to like different structure.

Zeiss Tac model XY 240

I agree with the seller; I don't know what this item is. :-)

It appears the two objectives are used at varying distances apart. Does it give a variable panoramic view?

Re: Shipping microscopes

Many good ideas above but a box in a box and bracing so nothing, especially sharp or pointy things can move is best.

I shipped a lot of hand formed glass with virtually no losses with the box in a box.

Wow Neat ad Glen

Circle #1 on the reader service card and send it in will you? :-)

Glarex screen, model 19 and 98 are all new to me.

It seems clear that the one that I linked from ebay was once a model 98 now that we see your ad.

Have any of you seen a 7 objective turret on a Standard? Congratulations on a new microscope Charles! It has been DAYS since your last one! :-) Looks like the all have trinocular tubes. The non-Fluotar objectives sure are massive. I don't get it though; are there secondary illuminators on them? (The one on the right appears to have an upper and lower?)

Re: University Surplus

I would pack up something purchased from one of these auctions for a forum member if wanted instead.

Charles' Transporter pod went for over $1100! :-)

And the microscope cameras seem to be of use to someone.
One bidder has all 4 above $65.

If you have a Klaus Kemp test diatom slide, you don't have to post photos, you can simply tell me whether or not your rig can resolve dots/lines on XYZ diatoms (especially those most difficult two). While I too hope for the best for einman in his Lomo project, you got my attention with your mention...

Thanks for the ebay vendor tip Rod. I ordered 1500, 2000 and 3000 grit at prices only China can offer.

It should be noted with stones this fine that, as with using a honing strop, only very little work is needed . More will dull not sharpen.

My local university surplus has 4 "microscope cameras." Along with finer threads, consider using the bolt to move a lever (like one arm of a scissors) to make a tiny movement to the sample being cut.

Re: Canon adapter or USB camera ?

While you are waiting, why not email Amscope and ask them? I believe the Ebay adapter and another ocular lens will work. (But will require a bit of tinkering.) I would think that the Amscope made converter for Canon would work. (But they have two adapters with unknown differences.) In the end, I sug...

Re: Canon adapter or USB camera ?

I think Fan has more insight on what you need than I do. For my arrangement, it got me close but i am still fooling with spacers to get the view & focus of the oculars to match what the camera sees. You'll also need an ocular or other lens in the phototube.
