Anyone familiar with Labophot heads?

I need to replace my Labophot head. Its missing the optical tube. I found one that is a UW. I assume it means ultra wide. But what does it mean? I would like to achieve fullframe video without the black circle. Or am I missunderstanding what uw means?

Yes I've seen that. I did not have any luck. I went with the Contrast adapter anyway since I want to make it a phase contrast scope. Best of both worlds.

I knew someone has already suggested it! Re: Nikon Dark field stop on ebay. Anyone familiar with these?

Thanks so much for taking the time. Yes I've been told the same by the person who sold me the scope. Place a stop below the iris. I've tried and tried various diameters stoppers which result in either black or light light grey which doesn't look like dark field at all. I somewhat stopped because of ...

Trying to get my ABBE 1.25 labophot condenser to achieve dark field. There is no info on diameter or compatible condensers. Works

Ordered the ca-can-slr from AMScope and bam works like a charm. Full screen and everything through the eye piece.

Now on to getting this thing to do phase contrast and dark feild.

I just want to achieve good dark feild really and a way to film. At least that (really nice site btw) article states it can do dark feild. J...

Hello I have a Nikon Labophot. Got it at a good price even through I'm missing the optical tube that came with the scope. Re: What scope best fits these requirements?

. . . However they are not cheap from what im seeing. If you have a target price, I and others can probably suggest some models to look for. Given that terrific Canon 5D camera you'll use with it, you might think of the microscope as a reasonably priced if slightly exotic "lens" to peer into the mi...

Re: What scope best fits these requirements?

You might also look for an inverted microscope, ideally phase contrast, for your chosen subject. These can be ideal for pond critters, typically have longer working distance lenses, and might prove more convenient to use. Every once in a while a very good one goes cheap. After some initial research...
