Re: Photo tube adapter

This doesn't give me much confidence. The text on Amscope's own product page is a little more reassuring: https://www.amscope.com/adapter-converting-c-mount-to-23mm-and-or-30mm-photo-port.html It appears that there is , as one might hope, a c-female thread in the adapter ... cunningly hidden in the...

Re: Photo tube adapter

Labcam says, "Your LabCam purchase already includes the 30mm and 23.2mm adapters". Is the photo eyepiece not 23.2? Other sizes would be unusual. Ah, I see what you mean. The Motic tube is indeed 23.2mm dia but is 9cm in length. Would inserting the LabCam in this tube result in a correct size image?

Re: Photo tube adapter

Please forgive my ignorance, David ... but I don’t understand this statement on the LabCam web-page: Precision: Attaches in 10 seconds to your iPhone and microscope by simply inserting into c-mount or eye-piece slot. How to they contrive to ‘insert’ the lens into a c-mount, when the male c-thread i...

Re: Photo tube adapter

Motic sells t-mount photo tubes for your microscope. The adapter accepts a photo eyepiece designed to project the image to a camera sensor. That is likely the same 30mm size as the normal eyepieces. You should confirm with your dealer. Documentation isn’t great, but if it is like other photo tubes ...

Photo tube adapter

This is the photo tube mount on a Motic BA310. It appears to be the same as Olympus BX.
What is this type of mount called?
I'm looking to mount a LabCam so need an adapter that will accept a 30mm eyepiece tube but not sure what to search for?

Re: Help with iPhone setup on ‘70s Leitz Dialux?

I struggled with the Gosky type of adapter, though I'm aware that many have had more luck. The main problem I found was the difficulty of adjusting along the third axis (Z-axis) I recently discovered the Celestron NEXYZ adapter, and I am very happy with it. I have never tried using it on the trinocu...

The issue with the diopter ring running out of range on the left side could be due to an improper tube length on the right side. That does look like a nice scope! The worn gear can be purchased third party in the US.

That should be a pleasure to use now. Congratulations I would be interested to know what a service like that cost if you don't mind saying. It might be a practical step to factor in a 'service' on to the purchase price of a used microscope when it is available. I paid £168 including the cost of ret...

The full text mentions that both condensers are used in conjunction with a field diaphragm that can be adjusted 'in all directions'.
The Olympus models mentioned in the OP do not appear to have an adjustable field diaphragm.

Re: DSLR vs iPhone

Firstly, your trinocular tube image is not only mal-corrected it is mis-aligned. The axis is shifted towards 4 o'clock. This is definitely an optical mis-match. The photo tube should provide a nicely corrected image to your awaiting sensor. Case closed. You refer to a "dealer". They obviously made ...

A field diaphragm is one of the essential parts of what they are now calling Full Köhler, I think Fixed Köhler is perilously close to being a kissing cousin to 2000x magnification.
That's what I'm thinking, but if so, I'm surprised to see Olympus adopting it.

Re: Fixed Köhler

As above, the field diaphragm is set to be just outside the field of view for whatever objective is in use, not normally wide open.
The principle is the same as the lens hoods, 'barn doors', bits of polystyrene etc. that pre-smartphone photographers used to reduce flare and maintain contrast.

I had a Brunel microscope with plan objectives and decided to upgrade to a Motic BA310 I found that the change to 30mm eyepieces was a huge improvement in viewing comfort, but the Motic ojectives were no better than the generic Brunel objectives and in a direct comparison actually show more chromati...
