Re: AO Model? I forget which one it s but it's for sale

I believe that is an AO1. AO2 has the horseshoe cut out and the AO4 has the built in illuminator. I don't know what an AO3 looked like...maybe Apo knows.

Re: DF on low power stereo microscope?

You can get good darkfield with just side lighting. One in each direction and proper positioning will remove some glare you might get.
Here's a fast one taken with B&L SZ7 and side lighting.

They are used on AO Spencer non-infinity microscopes like the AO Spencer 2-4, AO Spencer 15/35.

It states the magnification/N.A., then 160/0.17, and has a dark blue band. It does not state the working distance or anything else on it. I am reasonably sure it was sold as a DIN objective, and I am wondering what sort of a review to leave the seller (I bought it through amazon). There are no micr...

Yes, you can open a case in ebay for return of non-working unit and no response from seller. They usually give you full purchase amount with shipping and shipping back to seller.

I wonder how much it is? I still struggle to understand how the ioLight folk think their device is at all affordable for education, especially as it only works with a phone or tablet. 1. You will need a phototube. There is two different types, adjustable and non-adjustable. You will also need a KPL eyepiece, or KPL-S Photo eyepiece Zeiss Phototubes.jpg 2. The bulb for the 12V 100W halogen lamp is inexpensive. See here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/4pcs-EIKO-FCR-12V-100W-Bulb-Lamp-Mic...

Re: Inverted inquiry

Lately I've been considering purchasing a used inverted Microscope, my question is... are the objectives 0.17 just like upright microscopes, and are they LWD?. I just cant picture how the cover slip is held in place specially on a wet mount with the slide sitting upright. The majority of the object...

Re: My Zeiss Photomicroscope III

There is a hole in the right coarse focus knob 'collar'. Take an allen wrench which will fit the hole and then with the help of the allen wrench, turn the focus 'collar' counter clockwise to loosen. If that doesn't loosen it, it maybe just tight because of dried up grease and the whole focus block m...

Re: phase annulus for AO 10 phase objectives

Disregard my comments about the bright and medium being just for 160mmTL scopes. Looking at the the AO 10 phasestar manual on Xmission http://user.xmission.com/~psneeley/Personal/Microscope.htm , they show a bright, dark and B-minus phase objectives for the AO 10. But phase annuli in phase condenser...

Zeiss also has a seven objective turret for both the 160mm TL series scopes such as the Standard 18/WL and the Photomicroscope/Universals.

Re: phase annulus for AO 10 phase objectives

The AO 10 series is an infinity scope and the only line of phase for infinity objectives is the Dark Phase objectives. The bright-medium phase is for the 160mm TL AO microscopes and requires only one set of phase rings for bright, medium and dark phase objectives.

Re: Bent centering screw

I have straightened many bent bolt/screws. The easiest is to screw the bolt/screw into the stage as far as it will go. Then get a socket wrench which will fit the knob end snugly. You can wrap a piece of tape to the end of the screw/bolt knob to protect it. Turn the bolt/screw until you see where th...

It's hard to tell with such a busy back ground. In most Zeiss objectives with delamination, you see them around the edges.

It looks like the top lens element in the eyepiece has dropped vertically. You maybe able to unscrew the eyepiece and place the lens in its proper place.

If you go to the Swift site, you can download the manual: https://swiftoptical.com/products/sw380t Edit: Looking through the instructions, I don't see it mention centering the condenser. On the outside of the ring which holds the condenser, there should be two screws or knobs on either side. Move th...

There seems to be a few versions of the Dynoptic. There are even ones with the fine focus high on the limb. The version with the blue background does look like the trinocular and probably is the same base?

For any slides, I would recommend storing the slides flat. You can use any slide storage container, just turn the storage container so the slides stay flat/ horizontal. Like Kurt's suggestion: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9967

So you reach the point where you have a couple of thousand prepared microscope slides and you see a slide cabinet with 6 drawers that holds 2500 slides and you think your storage problems are over. DUMB! Such cabinets have no dividers. Slides are stacked in the vertical position. They rub against e...
